Ekiti 2022: Ekiti koya movements the kwara 2019 Otoge version

By Emmanuel Adesoji Olajutemu

Lagos, Nigeria.

After some political gymnastics and acrobatics, the saraki dynasty in Kwara politics was thrown to the sack by the little known Ibrahim Oloriegbe who unseated the then sitting Senate President, and former two terms Governor of the state, Senator  Bukola Saraki representing Kwara Central at the upper chambers of the national assembly.

Till now, I doubt if Bukola Saraki had recovered from the shocker as it continues to amaze many Nigerians.

The Ekiti July 18th gubernatorial poll has again presented another version of such movement with the candidacy of  Engr. Adebayo Olusegun Oni of the Social Democratic Party and the Ekiti Koya bandwagons.

The two dominant political parties in Ekiti PDP and the ruling APC may be up for a surprise at the new waves in town. That’s why many political watchers would see the bigwigs from both parties changing alleigeance to que behind the white horse and hoping a twist for a new dawn.

The last 4 years or thereabout has seen some economic hardship where salary arrears, leave bonuses and other emoluments were jettisoned, the gratuities of the retirees have been delayed and  negotiated, yet, the electoral promises of most parties and their candidates hinged more on the regular payments of salaries to romance voters and the populace while others still parade the strategy of the stomachs infrastructure.

Different appellations  ” Bridge to the future, the Home boy “ have been devised to mask up the fact intentions of the principalities in the two parties to continue ruling the state. There is no agenda different from the normal. The normal that all eyes have seen and tongues attested as deception.

It was on record that one of  intending supritendents supervised the retrenchment of over 2000 employees. The acrobatics displays of the parties which instigated courts actions against building Oja Oba Ado Ekiti and the Cargo airport but are now the benefactor of projects they kicked against.

Imagine someone retired at age 60 or 65 and over 10 years after yet to receive a dine from his entitlements. He could not even afford to give needed opportunities to educate his wards to compete with his oppressors who has the control of funds and governance and recircle himself through proxies to perpetuates himself on the corridor.
The antecedents of each candidates will now speaks as more and more electorates seen through the mirror and the Big parties may likely be in for a shocker in coming elections.
