The former Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, has lauded the leadership style of Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, describing him as a man of competence, character, and deep emotional intelligence.

Reflecting on his long-standing relationship with Oyebanji even before the creation of Ekiti, Mimiko expressed satisfaction with the pace of progress in Ekiti, noting that Oyebanji had shown preparedness for the role of governor, having undergone the required tutelage and imbibed essential political values.

According to him, the combination of technical competence and personal integrity has been key to the positive transformation witnessed in the state while commending the ability of the Governor to create unity among political stakeholders, which he said has earned him endorsements from past governors in Ekiti, regardless of political affiliation.

He also expressed admiration for the public’s frequent endorsement of Oyebanji’s policies and projects, calling it a testament to his effectiveness in office.

Mimiko, who also visited Afe Babalola University (ABUAD) in Ado Ekiti during his trip, lauded the institution for creating a robust development ecosystem through private investments in education, healthcare, and industry.

He described the ABUAD model as admirable and worthy of emulation, especially in its approach to human capital and economic development.

However, Mimiko raised concerns over the poor state of the road leading to ABUAD, describing it as unbefitting for the level of investment and critical health services the institution provides.

He noted that many patients in fragile conditions are transported to ABUAD’s hospital through that route, making its rehabilitation a matter of urgent public importance.

Responding, Governor Biodun Oyebanji expressed joy and gratitude, describing Mimiko as his political mentor and the person who discovered his political talents. He said the visit was long anticipated, providing an opportunity to reconnect with someone who had a profound influence on his political journey.

Governor Oyebanji recalled how Mimiko introduced him to politics, instilling in him the values of honesty, competence, and service to the people, crediting much of his leadership style, including his simplicity and focus on people-centred governance, to the mentorship he received from Dr. Mimiko.

The governor assured that the concerns raised about the ABUAD road were being addressed, noting that the federal government had awarded the project and efforts were ongoing to secure timely funding.

He thanked Mimiko for the visit and pledged to continue building on the values and vision that had earned his administration such widespread support.
