Pharmacist Adedayo Oluwasanmi, founder of the Oluwasanmi Foundation, has thrown his weight behind Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s bid for a second term, praising what he described as the governor’s “superlative and sustainable” transformation of the healthcare sector in Ekiti State.
Speaking shortly after the statewide endorsement rally held in Ado-Ekiti for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Oyebanji, the pharmacist lauded the governor’s bold strides in the health sector, noting that his commitment to public well-being is backed by tangible projects. He highlighted the complete renovation and equipping of general hospitals across the state as well as the ongoing overhaul of primary healthcare centres in all 16 local government areas as landmark achievements that point to visionary leadership.
Oluwasanmi described Governor Oyebanji’s healthcare initiatives as “unprecedented” in the history of Ekiti State, stressing that the provision of free healthcare for pregnant women, the elderly and children under five mirrors policies mostly seen in advanced countries. According to him, such compassion and foresight demonstrate that the governor is not merely governing but transforming lives across the state.
He urged Ekiti residents to close ranks in support of the governor whom he characterised as selfless, compassionate and wholly committed to the prosperity of the people. He argued that a leader who has achieved such remarkable reforms within just three years in office deserves an opportunity to consolidate his gains, warning that denying Oyebanji a second term would amount to slowing down the current wave of positive change.
“If Governor Oyebanji has done this much in record time, imagine what another term would bring,” Oluwasanmi said, expressing optimism that Ekiti could emerge as a global destination for medical tourism if the governor’s vision is allowed to bloom fully.
The pharmacist’s strong words of support add to a growing chorus of voices within the healthcare sector rallying behind the governor, after thousands turned out for the endorsement rally on Monday in what many described as a clear sign that Oyebanji’s second-term ambition has gained unstoppable momentum.
A prominent philanthropist in his own right, Oluwasanmi has in recent years undertaken numerous empowerment programmes through his foundation, reaching youth, widows, the elderly and vulnerable groups across communities in Gbonyin, Omuo, Emure, Ode Ekiti and even in the diaspora. Beneficiaries of his largesse have often described his interventions as a “saving grace” during difficult times.
He further revealed that his foundation’s agricultural schemes were deliberately designed to complement state government efforts to create opportunities for young people, particularly in the agric sector. He affirmed that these grassroots empowerment projects are intended to align with and bolster Governor Oyebanji’s broader vision for inclusive development in Ekiti State.
