The governoship candidate of the Social Democratic Party Chief Segun Oni has promised to restore electricity to Ekiti East local government that had been without power supply for the past ten years, within the first six months in office if elected.
Chief Oni made the promise while addressing electorates in Oye, Ikole, Ekiti East and Ayekire local Governments during the continuation of his Familiarization tour and inauguration of the Party Secretariats in all the Sixteen local government Areas of the state.

The Familiarization train was on the tour around Oye, Ikole, Ekiti East and Ayekiren local government Areas of the state. The town hall meeting in all the four local government Areas visited was turned to a carnival like rally as electorates trouped out in their numbers to welcome the SDP gubernatorial candidate.
Chief Oni promised to Wade into installation of power to Ekiti East local government Area in his first six months in office if elected which elicited cheers from the people of the Area,
Chief Oni who decried the increasing rate of insecurity in the state also promised scientific approach to curbing insecurity, payment of all outstanding salaries and gratuities of the retirees, employment of teeming unemployed youths and Provision of micro credit and soft loans for artisans and market women.
The Ifaki Ekiti born politician urged the people to get their Voter’s Card and also kick against vote-buying during the June 18 Governoship election.
Some people who had detected from the ruling All progressive Congress and People Democratic Party such as Mr Isreal Adesokan, Purpulaly called JARULE, Mr Ajibola Ajiboye also known as 50/50, Mr Yemi Arokodare Former Local Government Chairmen among others said that they decided to pitch their tent with SDP because of the personality of Chief Oni whom they described as a popular demand by Ekiti people.
They said that the coming of Chief Segun Oni had changed the political atmosphere in the state, which they said was a testament of his antecedents.
Also some National and house of Assembly aspirants noted that the track records of the SDP gubernatorial Candidate during his three and half years in office had not been surpassed by any administration in the state.
It was also observed that in some of the Local Government visited, like Oye, Ikole and Gbonyin local Governments the Former People Democratic Party’s Secretariats are now been used as Social Democratic Party’s Secretariats.
