The Organized Labour in Ekiti State has vehemently disowned a purported social media statement alleging blackmail against the Head of Service (HOS) during a recent meeting with labour leaders.
The spurious claim, titled “The Outcome of the Meeting Between the Organised Labour and the HOS,” was declared as entirely false and not representative of any stance by the NLC, TUC, or JNC.
In a joint press release signed by the NLC Chairman Kolapo Olatunde, TUC Chairman Sola Adigun, and JNC Chairman Femi Ajoloko, the labour unions clarified the actual nature of the meeting held on December 22, 2023, at the HOS’s office.
Contrary to the misleading information, the meeting was convened to commend Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for his exemplary leadership in prioritizing workers’ welfare and to strengthen the cordial relationship between the government and labour representatives.
Addressing the erroneous claims, the labour leaders emphasized that at no point did they denounce or oppose Governor Oyebanji’s initiatives beneficial to workers. They refuted the alleged condemnation of the Governor or any negative remarks attributed to the relationship with the Commissioner for Finance, branding these assertions as fabrications aimed at sowing discord.
Asserting their responsible leadership, the unions highlighted their commitment to fostering a harmonious relationship with the government.
They cautioned against nefarious elements seeking to disrupt the progress of the state and warned of divine retribution for those perpetuating such misleading narratives.
Urging the public to disregard the false statement, the unions reassured their continued cooperation with the Ekiti State government to enhance the welfare of workers and foster development.
The Organized Labour called for solidarity in ignoring the malicious falsehoods, emphasizing their dedication to furthering the interests of workers while pledging continued support for the government’s initiatives in Ekiti State.
