Amid the vibrant and joyous atmosphere of Cedar House of Grace Church in Lekki, Lagos, Oyindamola Abidemi Omolayo and Ibukun Ayodele Babafemi exchanged their vows, embarking on a new journey together as husband and wife.

The wedding, followed by a lavish reception at La Madison Event Centre in Oniru, Lagos, was not just a union of two souls but also a gathering of wisdom and blessings, especially from Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, the esteemed wife of Ekiti State Governor.

Ibukun, the son of Ekiti State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Peju Babafemi, found himself surrounded by love, guidance, and profound advice, particularly from Dr. Oyebanji. In her heartfelt address, she emphasized the importance of grounding their new home on the steadfast foundation of Jesus Christ. “Build your home on Jesus, the solid rock, who alone can guide you through your matrimonial journey,” she urged, her words resonating deeply with the congregation.

Dr. Oyebanji outlined five essential pillars for a successful marriage: working together, walking together, growing together, being open with one another, and sowing the right seeds together. These principles, she noted, have been the cornerstone of her own successful marriage with Governor Biodun Oyebanji. “To the bride,” she advised, “never let your knees stray far from the ground in prayer for your family.”

Her advice wasn’t merely theoretical; it was rooted in her lived experience, offering a tangible example for the newlyweds to emulate. She encouraged them to be the right partners for each other, stressing the importance of mutual support and availability.

The spiritual tone of the ceremony was further enriched by the Senior Pastor of Cedar House of Grace, Pastor Yomi Omitunde. In his sermon, he congratulated the couple and reminded them that their union was the foundation of their first church—the family. He called on the bride to emulate the virtues of biblical women who were the pillars of their families, highlighting the significance of raising children in accordance with God’s teachings.

The celebration was a colorful and festive affair, drawing attendees from various walks of life. Notable figures included the Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Chief Monisade Afuye; former Deputy Governor, Prof. Modupe Adelabu; immediate past First Lady, Erelu Bisi Fayemi; members of the Ekiti State Executive Council, and other top government officials.

As the newlyweds embark on their shared journey, they carry with them the heartfelt blessings and wise counsel of Dr. Oyebanji and the spiritual community that surrounded them on their special day. Their wedding was more than a celebration of love; it was a testament to the power of faith, community, and the enduring bonds of family.
