Alafao in Council invites Councillor, Tope Omosilade over alleged threat to life, hate speech

Afao Ekiti traditional ruler, Kabiyesi, Oba Ajibare Ademilua and his chiefs on Monday, September 11, 2023 queried Mr. Tope Omosilade, the current Supervisory councillor from Afao ward, over some of his  utterances, in which he was alleged of threatening a community leader and  APC chieftain Chief Kayode Akinyemi.

Mr. Tope Omosilade, was said to have openly  confronted Chief Akinyemi, promising to unleash another attack on him greater than the one he survived  in 2014.

Mr Omosilade is also been questioned for openly discrediting the two councilorship aspirants,  Mr. Adeosun Ojo and Mr. Dele Ogunsemi.

He was said to have been promoting hate speech capable of disrupting the peace and harmony within the town.

Omosilade was alleged to have said that Adeosun Ojo hailed from a problematic family, and that he is also privy to many attrocities commited by Mr. Dele Ogunseemi whom he promised to make his deals known to the public soon.

The comments which were seen by the community as a way to tarnish the image of the aspirants and disqualify them in the minds of the people.

Mean while our correspondence report that the leadership of the APC in Afao ward led by its chairman, Mr. Oke Adejorin had dissociated themselves from the alleged violent provoking and anti-party activities of Mr Omosilade, saying that they would not allow anyone to destroy the party in Afao ward for any selfish interest.

A cross section of youths in the community who also warned Mr. Omosilade to stop promoting violence and hate speech said that threatening to inflict life taking injury of residents would not be taking as mere verbal attacks, calling on the leadership of the Ifedara LCDA, the State leadership of APC and the  government of Governor Biodun Oyebanji to call him to order.

They noted that the community cannot afford to lose any of it’s citizens.

The first phase of the questioning was held on Monday 11 of September and  Kabiyesi Alafao, Oba Ajibare Ademilua noted that Mr. Omosilade will be re-invited on another date when decision of the Alafao-in-council will be made known.
