Philanthropist Provides Scholarships for Students and Boosts Rice Farming to Foster Youth Development
The youths of Ode Ekiti in Aiyekire Local Government Area of Ekiti State have expressed deep appreciation to a philanthropist and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Pharmacist Adedayo Oluwasanmi for his continued commitment to youth empowerment through targeted interventions, particularly in agriculture and education.
Speaking on behalf of the youths during an interview, the Youth President of the town Mr Babatunde Thomas Oni popularly known as Sordico and another prominent youth who serves as the senior special Assistant to the Governor on Servicom Hon Oluwasanmi Olufunmi described the Ode Ekiti born internationally reputed pharmarcist as a rare personality whose generosity and vision have started yielding tangible benefits for the community’s younger generation.
Babatunde Oni who revealed that he had long been seeing several efforts of the community developer for about a decade said he had the opportunity of meeting Oluwasanmi in person, about six months ago, but noted that within that short period, the philanthropist had proven to be an extraordinary human being dedicated and genuinely concerned concerned with the welfare and growth of youths in Ode Ekiti.
According to him, since their meeting, Oluwasanmi had already organized three series of empowerment programmes aimed at addressing critical areas that directly impact the lives of young people in the community.
Babatunde recalled that Oluwasanmi had personally approached him to make inquiries about what the youths of the community needed most, demonstrating an uncommon level of sincerity and interest in finding sustainable solutions. He said he pointed out two major areas where the youths could be empowered: agriculture and educational support through scholarships.
The youth president who emphasized that Oluwasanmi not only listened carefully but immediately swung into action by implementing empowerment schemes along the two lines discussed.
The youth president who further disclosed that in February this year, Oluwasanmi provided JAMB forms free of charge to 50 students from the community, as part of the ways to giving them an opportunity to pursue higher education without the financial burden of registration costs.
The youth leader also lauded the scholarship initiative, describing it as a lifeline for many families and an inspiration for students who previously saw tertiary education as a distant dream.
Beyond education, they also lauded Oluwasanmi’s support for young farmers involved in rice farming, noting that several youths had received direct agricultural empowerment to boost their farming activities and enhance food security in all areas
He explained that the support was not just financial but also geared towards helping the youths achieve self-sufficiency, with the beneficiaries promising to put the assistance into productive use to ensure sustainability.
