The Ekiti State Government has lauded the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies for their steadfast efforts in maintaining relative peace and stability across the state.
The commendation was given by the Director-General, Bureau of Civic Orientation and Citizenship (BCOC), Ekiti State, Hon. (Mrs) Olawumi Famuyiwa, during a sensitization meeting organised by Yemi Oshe Foundation, in collaboration with the Ekiti State Police Command and the Ekiti State Government, held at Fayose Market, Ado-Ekiti.

Famuyiwa, in her goodwill message, stressed the need for increased community involvement in the fight against crime. She urged residents to be vigilant, safeguard their belongings, and collaborate actively with security agencies to strengthen peace and security in their neighbourhoods.
Also speaking at the event, the Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State Command, Mr. Joseph Eribo, who was represented by the Divisional Police Officer, Ado Central, Mr. Mohammed Mustapha Musa, applauded the efforts of phone repairers in Fayose Market for their prompt reporting of suspected phone theft cases. He noted that such cooperation has significantly contributed to reducing incidents of phone theft within the area.
Eribo reiterated the commitment of the police to continue working closely with community members to enhance safety measures. He urged citizens to promptly report suspicious activities, emphasising that collective vigilance is crucial to combating crime.
In his remarks, the founder of Yemi Oshe Foundation, Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele Omotoyinbo, represented by the Project Communication Officer, Mr. Adeleke Oluwatosin, said the sensitisation programme was aimed at rallying community stakeholders to develop effective strategies for curbing phone theft and improving overall security in the state.
Omotoyinbo noted that the initiative was part of broader efforts to create a crime-free society where residents can live and conduct business without fear of harassment or theft. He called on all stakeholders to harness their collective expertise and resources to ensure Ekiti State remains a safe haven for all.
The programme concluded with a renewed call for collective action among stakeholders. Participants, including mobile phone sellers, repairers, and accessories dealers, expressed their commitment to implementing the discussed strategies and pledged to support ongoing security initiatives geared towards making Ekiti State safer for everyone.
