EKITI ASSEMBLY ENGAGES ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS ON EXCELLENCE FOR EFFECTIVE SERVICE DELIVERY
….As Rt Hon Aribasoye charges workers to embrace continuous training.
Administrative Officers in the legislative service have been charged on rudiments of their profession and how to strengthen administrative excellent for effective service delivery and professionalism.
The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Adeoye Aribasoye gave the charge at the opening ceremony of a two day training organised for the newly appointed administrative officers and officers in the administrative cadre in the legislative service of Ekiti State.
Aribasoye noted that the Seventh Assembly is passionate about training and retraining of staff, most especially the Administrative officers in the legislative service calling on them to redouble their efforts towards improving the administrative duties for the betterment of the legislative arm.
The Speaker admonished the participants to internalise whatever they might have learnt during the training in their various units and come out as fine and refined officers, as he expressed confidence on the competence of the resource persons.
The legislative helmsman charged the legislative staff to shun unethical behavior, undignifying soliciting of money, and other embarrassing attitudes.
He described administrative officers as one of the most important cadres in the legislative arm and enjoined them to always abide with the tenet and ethical conduct of their profession.
Aribasoye explained further that “you are the custodian of rules and regulations, I don’t expect you as Administrative officers to be loitering around the offices, you should not be a busybody officer, with this training, you will become a fine and refined officers, you should take the advantage of this training to equip yourself.”
However, he commended his colleagues for their dedication, commitment and passion for the development of the state, noting that despite the ongoing remodeling of the Assembly Complex, they have not failed in the business of lawmaking, oversight functions and other statutory works.
In his welcome address, the Chairman Ekiti State House of Assembly Service Commission, Hon Kayode Fasakin appreciated the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr
Biodun Oyebanji for giving the legislative arm an enabling environment and for his interest in actualizing human capital development in the legislative service.
Hon.Fasakin appreciated the Speaker of the Ekiti State for his dedication to staff welfare and also commended the other members of the Seventh Assembly for their unwavering support for the legislative staff, reiterating the invaluable contributions of the board members of the Assembly Service Commission.
“let this induction mark the beginning of a career built on integrity, commitment, loyalty, diligence and excellence with continuous learning, the future of the legislative service depends on you” he stated.
Similarly, in her goodwill message,the Commissioner for Training and Manpower Development in the Ekiti State House of Assembly Service Commission Mrs Fola Richie-Adewusi congratulated the newly inducted Officers and Officers in the Administrative Cadre for the training urging them to internalise lessons learnt.
Earlier, while welcoming the Speaker and the other lawmakers to the venue of the training in the Assembly Complex, the Clerk of the House Mr. Opeyemi Ajibola expressed appreciation to the Speaker Rt Hon. Aribasoye and the members of the Seventh Assembly for prioritizing staff welfare.
He also thanked the Chairman House of Assembly Service Commission and the Board members for their support for the staff and urged the participants to adopt whatever they might learn in the training as their working document.
The two days induction and training featured both serving and retired Senior Civil Servants as resource persons, which included the former Clerk of the House Mr Tola Esan, Retired Permanent Secretary Mr Abayomi Opeyemi, and a senior lecturer from the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, Dr Taiwo Togunloju.
Others were the Permanent Secretary Pension Commission Mrs Omotola Faseluka represented by the Director of Investment Compliance and Statistics Mr Isiaka Adewole, the Deputy Clerk in charge of Administrative matters, Mr Adeyinka Owolabi and Dr Adeniyi Adekunle, a director in the office of the Ekiti State Accountant General.
The officers were taken through relevant topics including, an Overview of the Ekiti State legislative service and public rules; Effective Communication Report and Speech Writing, Memo; letter writing; Financial Management in the legislative service and public service; Managing people: The Boss, peers and subordinate.
Other topics included, Legislative leadership and strategic management;Understanding legislative and its power Derivation; Introduction to contributory Pension Scheme and its benefits; and Work Ethics and Value Orientation in the Legislative service.
Certificates of participation were presented to the participants after the training by the Clerk of the House, Opeyemi Ajibola Esq.
