No fewer than 100 aged and widows have benefitted from the outreach of a Non Governmental Organization based in Ekiti State, NISSI Foundation which has its focus on making a better life for the less privileged in the society.
The 10th edition of the NGO annual outreach which was held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God Divine Assurance Ajebamidele Ado Ekiti had in attendance beneficiaries from different communities across the state
The founder and coordinator of the Foundation Mrs Oyeyemi Kayode-Ojo, who is the permanent secretary cabinet matters in Ekiti state thanked God on behalf of the beneficiaries for witnessing another edition of the outreach.
She said that the foundation had considered the various physical and health challenges faced by the elderlies and the aged in the country, to find means at making life better and easier for them through the outreach and other initiatives.
Mrs Kayode-Ojo noted that with the prevailing socio-economic realities such as hike in pump price, Inflation, effects of climate change on food production and deteriorating economy in the country which had left many people in abject poverty, NISSI foundation determined to reach out to the aged ones so as to bring succor to their lives.
According to her the Organization is doing this with no aim of profit making, she said “the annual outreach which started as a humanitarian activity was borne out of passion for elders and widow’s, metamorphosed into a non-governmental organization. NISSI foundation is a non-governmental foundation that saddles itself with the Herculean task of ameliorating the plight of the aged, widows and some vulnerable groups in the society”.
She said that with the theme of the edition outreach”A NEW THING” the foundation has determined to engage the society on mentorship, values reorientation and maintenance culture of the young ones in the society.
“There are many new things in the world, some are positive while some are negative, there are so many trends that are in contrast to what was obtainable decades ago. This forum is challenging us to impact our world so that our experience of the new thing can be positive” she said.
The event also featured health talk as Mrs Blessing Sanmi Àjàyí who is a nurse educated the participants on the effects of Hepatitis B and ways to preventing it.
The program also provided Hepatitis B vaccines to the beneficiaries while Health practitioners engaged them on other health matters and challenges facing the participants.
The Nurse urged the people to always do medical checkups so as to know their health status.
The preacher at the event Pastor Kayode Akindele, the immediate past registrar of the Redeemers University Ede Osun State described Mrs Oyeyemi Kayode-Ojo as true believer who was committed to making life better for the vulnerables in the society.
He urged other well meaning Nigerians to emulate the foundation president in view of the current challenges in the country.
Some of the beneficiaries went home with food and other items at the event.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries Elder Mrs Osunseemi from Ikere Ekiti thanked the foundation for rendering assistance to them while she prayed for more grace over the founder of the NGO.
Beneficiaries of the program availed the opportunity to do medical check ups and counselling on their health.
