18 years after leaving Seccondary school, members of the 2004/2005 set of Ado Grammar School, Ado Ekiti on Saturday, reunite for the first time, with a resolve to construct a 500 capacity Event Hall for corporate and commercial purposes.
The resolution according to the President, Mr Olabode Wilson Rawa was a way to boosting the internally generated revenue of the school so as to be able to meet certain economic demands required for self growth and sustenance, knowing that government could no longer fund the education sector alone.
The program which took place within the premises of their Alma mater also featured the election of new Executive members to pilot the affairs of the association for the next two years.
Rawa, who was re-elected as President of Alumni for another term of two years, said it was necessary for all members to commit themselves to programs, projects and, initiatives and interventions that would add value to the great citadel of learning.
He charged all alumni to remember their source, noting that the school had contributed greatly to whatever the have achieved in life.
In his words,
Yes, it’s been years we saw but with the advancement in human knowledge which gave birth to the internet, we have stayed together virtually and it is my prayer that God in His mercies keep us all in good health and great accomplishment.
“Please today is a time to merry and exchange banters and contacts, a time for reminiscing on how those teachers beat and punish us for coming late, stained uniforms for scaling the fence and passing through the bush I to the class.
“The naughty branks we played on each other, the small fights, the laughter and the likes.
“As you do this please go with this message that it is God alone who can bless and make person rich.
“Be patient and work hard, don’t be slothful think out of the box on how to grow your business. Contact people in your field of business who can help you.
“Log on to Google for ideas, attend seminars, workshops talk to people in government who can help you with your businesses.
“We thank God for the achievements we have been able to accomplished, you all made it happen,” he said
He emphasized that the proposed 500 seater Event Hall would be executed through raising of funds, so as take the school self reliant in getting things done without delays of financial constraints. He explained that other programs of the 2004/2005 set such as the distribution JAMB UTME forms to deserving students of the school, was to encourage the current students in taking heir academics seriously.
He praised members of the Alumni for their donations in cash and kind as well as other resources deployed for the development and progress their Alma mater.
Rawa described the reunion as a great opportunity for members to interact, exchange pleasantries, banters and even contacts for future dealings.
The gathering observed a minute silence for some of the members who have gone to the great beyond, as the president reminded them that moving closer to God is one of the keys to success in life.
The newly elected executive members of the alumni are: Mr Olabode Wilson Rawa, President, Mrs Omolayo-Vice president, Mr Adeosun Temidayo Busuyi, General Secretary, Miss Oluwalana Rhoda, Treasurer.
Others are: Mrs Aderiye Ayobami, P.R.O, Mrs Adesina Titilayo, Financial Secretary and Assistant General Secretary, Mrs Mohmoh Dada Mercy.
Other appointments is expected to be done during the EXCO meeting.
In their separate remarks, Mr Alofe Abiodun and Mr Kayode Jegede applauded the efforts and contributions of the 2005 set Alumni for returning back to their Alma Mater.
They promised to effect the School Anthem and lyrics in the social media platforms as soon as possible for its accessibility by members of the Alumni on social media.
Members present at the historical event included: Mr Benard Ogunsakin, Mr Emmanuel, Miss Omolayo, Mr Orija Taiwo, Mr Sikiru, Mrs Adesina Titilayo.
The rest are: Mr Olumide alias OBE, Mr Aruleba Temitope and Mr Adegbite Michael, among others.
