An All Progressives Congress Chieftain in Ekiti State, Hon. Adesola Gold Adedayo, has expressed optimism that the ruling party will sweep all the 26 Assembly seats in the state in the March 18 poll, as it did in the just concluded National Assembly election.
The former Senior Legislative Assistant, enthused that the Ekiti opposition People’s Democratic Party and the Social Democratic Party, are too feeble and unpopular to pose any stumbling block to the ruling party in the impending poll.
Meanwhile, Adedayo appealed to the National Assembly-elects in Ekiti to live up to the expectations of the people, by performing their legislative duties in line with the yearnings and aspirations of the Nigerian populace, especially Ekiti residents.
The ex-legislative aide expressed the confidence in Osun- Ekiti, Moba Local Government area of Ekiti State, in a statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti, on Thursday.
Adedayo averred that Governor Biodun Oyebanji has popularised the APC by exhibiting welfarist approach to governance, saying this accounted for why the party wins the presidential and all the nine national assembly seats in the last election.
He added without misgiving that the people of Ekiti State will in the principle of reciprocity voted for all the 26 APC candidates in the assembly election to ease governance for Governor Oyeabanji and lubricate any unforeseeable friction in the executive-legislature relationships.
Adedayo advised the national assembly-elects to up their complementary games, by working hard in scrutinising the federal government’s budgetary proposal and ensure that Ekiti is fully captured to shore up the level of federal presence in Ekiti.
The APC chieftain said; “In the last election, the APC won all the six House of Representatives and three Senate seats in Ekiti. This was not by happenstance. It was a productive of hardwork and good performances put up by Governor Oyebanji and I know the same feat will be replicated in the assembly poll.
“We have some challenges over complaints being raised against some of our candidates, but those issues are internal and the party top hierarchies are addressing it.
“We thank God that a week window given by INEC will afford us the latitutde to put our house in other to be able to bring our winning streak to bear.
“We can’t afford to allow the opposition to constitute any clog in the wheel of our progress. When you have opposition dominating the assembly, the ruling party may run into a hitch and get derailed and this shouldn’t be allowed to happen in Ekiti.
“But no cause for alarm. The two main oposition parties are no threat to our party. We are acceptable to the people and we have no reason to dread that we have the capacity to win all the 26 seats as we did in the national assembly election“.
Adedayo stated that he harbours no pessimism about the just elected national assembly-elects working hard to buoy the level of federal presence in Ekiti.
He urged them to always take painstaking actions during budgeting and ensure that Ekiti is adequately represented in project execution.
