Nigeria’s former vice president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, we gathered, have sent their congratulatory messages to Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola on the award of the Commander of the Order of the Niger ( CON) ally will be conferred on him tomorrow by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Atiku and Adeleke, in separate telephone calls, sources disclosed, described Aregbesola as a detribalised Nigerian, who rose above clannish and ethnic politics to support the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, in the last presidential election, despite the smear campaign against him by some “political recidivists and regional champions.”

The former Osun governor is currently under criticism for working against his benefactor and candidate of his party in the 2023 presidential election election, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Recall Aregbesola’s name was conspicuously missing in the initial list sent out to the media, but the intervention made by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo saved the day for him.
