Comrade Mukhtar Olamide Muhydeen, a 300-Level student of Counseling Psychology has been elected as the new President of the Bamidele Olumilua University of Education Science and Technology Ikere-Ekiti Student Union for the 2023/2024 academic session.
In a keenly contested election conducted by the Students Affairs of the University, Comrade Mukhtar scored One thousand five hundred and eighty six (1586) votes to defeat his opponent Comrade Olarewaju Kehinde Victor who scored One thousand three hundred and seventy three (1373) votes.
Other elected officers are, Olubunmi Busola Dorcas Vice President,
Akindele Adeniyi Oludare, General Secretary, Akinrodoye Oluwatobi Oluwasegun emerged as Assistant General Secretary, Adejoro Heritage Oluwadamilola was elected as Treasurer.
Olateju Samuel Ayomide won the post of Auditor while Osolonge Taiwo Israel emerged as the financial Secretary.
The position of Director of Social and Culture was won by Bamigboye Tobi Oluwasemilore while Gbanawei Victor emerged as the Public Relations Officer.
Falomo Boluwatife Israel was elected as the Director of Sports and Moruf Morenikeji Sikirat emerged as the Welfare Director.
The President in a chat with news men said his executives will ensure peaceful coexistence among students and the University Management, adding that they will always work together to promote the University’s image.
The president- elect stated that his leadership will give room for communication with the Management in order to foster synergy and enhance service delivery.
He however, assured his teeming fellow students that their welfare will be
given utmost priority.
Comrade Mukhtar expressed his willingness to work with his opponents and his cabinet members, stating that irrespective of their different ideologies and agenda, they all need to work together to achieve success for the interest of the students.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Olufemi Adeoluwa who spoke through the Coordinator Students Affairs,Mr Ayodeji Ilugbusi lauded the peaceful conduct of the election urging the contestants to see the exercise as a game in which a winner must surely emerged and enjoined them to work together for the collective development of the Union and BOUESTI in general.
Professor Adeoluwa charged the winners to see their election as a call to serve and shun acts that could truncate the peace on campus. He reaffirmed the determination of the University authorities to make the welfare of the students a too priority.
The Students’ Affairs Officer and Chief returning officer for the election,Mr Toba Sulaiman described the election as peaceful.
