_Reassures_ _Residents_ _Of_ _water-tight Security_
Ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations, the Ekiti State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has reassured residents of adequate security of lives and property before, during and after the Christmas and New year celebrations.
The State Commandant – *John Olatunde Fayemi* gave the reassurance after a crucial meeting with *Heads of Departments/Units, Area Commanders, Divisional Officers and Heads of Tactical Teams* at the Command Headquarters in Ado Ekiti on Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st December,2022.
Commandant Fayemi maintained that the crucial meeting became necessary to review earlier strategies and make adjustments where necessary to tackle crimes in the state as well as emplace measures to contain the unecessary pressures usually associated with the yuletide.
While addressing the CTU Commander and other Arm bearing Unit and Department of the Command, Commandant Fayemi said *” it is the duty of everyone of us to stand firm this period as miscreants are moving around to steal, defraud and perpetrate other heinous crimes this yuletide hence, the need to restrategise becomes expedient so that we can move ahead of them by foiling any of their attempt to wreck havoc in the state*
He cautioned his Personnel against any form of laxity and unprofessional conduct in carrying out this crucial assignment.
In his words:
*” this operation is a tactical one in which all of us are expected to display our professional prowess by adhering strictly to the rule of engagement, application of courtesy in our relationship with the people, respect for human right , carry out any assignment apportioned to you in line with international best practices and in good faith*
While thanking God for the relative peace in the state, the Ekiti NSCDC Boss observed that the synergy and collaboration among security agencies had contributed immensely to that and restated the readiness of his Command to work closely with other sister security agencies adding that there was no alternative to effective synergy in combating crimes other than combine strategies.
According to him, strategic deployment has been made across the length and breath of the state with special attention to worship and Events Centers, government Installations, Motor Parks, Markets and Malls while motorized patrols have been stepped up to accommodate other soft targets/ blacks spots with the support of joint patrol set up Ekiti State Government which has all the paramilitary and military agencies in the state.
In a statement signed by the CDPRO DSC Tolu Afolabi, the State Commandant advised the general public to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to the nearest security formation adding that security remains the business of all and the alternative to peace is peace.
Meanwhile, the State Commandant while wishing Christian faithful in the state a peaceful celebration, has called on the residents to remain law abiding to sustain the relative peace being enjoyed in the state.
