Ekiti State House of Assembly has declined a request seeking the extension of the suspension order placed on the Ekameta LCDA Boss, Mr Oyebola J. K.
The resolution of the Assembly lifting the suspension was contained in a statement by the Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs Hon. Babatunde Oke on Wednesday 16th August, 2023.
The House of Assembly had earlier ratified the resolution of the Ekiti West Legislative Council passed on 22nd February, 2023 affirming the indefinite suspension of Oyebola pending the determination of the allegations of non-performance and gross misconduct leveled against him by critical stakeholders from the communities in the LCDA..
“Having been duly conveyed at the Parliamentary Session and having duly considered the motion moved by Hon. Akanle Lateef Oluwole (Ekiti East II) and seconded by Hon. Bose Olowookere (Efon) in respect of the report of Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, has unanimously passed as resolution of the House that it declined the request for further extension of the suspension order placed on the Executive Chairman of Ekameta LCDA Oyebola J. K and also lift the suspension forthwith.”
According to the statement, the Assembly Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, chaired by the Deputy Chief Whip, Hon. Alhaja Maryam Ogunlade, which reviewed issues surrounding the suspension of the council boss, submitted its review report to the House during its parliamentary meeting.
Consequent upon the resolution of the Assembly, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, recalled the chairman to resume office immediately with all his office entitlement and benefits reinstated forthwith, including the arrears.
Rt. Hon. Aribasoye advised Oyebola to be more focused in the discharge of his duties, as the House of Assembly pledged its continual support and supervisory role towards ensuring a prompt and adequate dispensation of the dividend of democracy to the people.
