EKITI ASSEMBLY SPEAKER SAYS 2024 APPROPRIATION BILL WILL FACE THOROUGH SCRUTINY, COMMENDS GOVERNOR OYEBANJI’S LEADERSHIP STRIDES

The Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Adeoye Aribasoye says the house will toe the path of critical dialogue, deep scrutiny and constructive collaboration with relevant government offices before the passage of the 2024 budget.

The speaker stated this on Friday at the presentation of the appropriation bill of 159.5 billion naira by the state Governor , Mr. Biodun Oyebanji at the State House of Assembly.

While noting that the bill as presented reflected progressive continuity the speaker assured that the lawmakers will examine the document to ensure it aligns with the vision of shared prosperity and economic growth among other grounds.

We will engage in constructive dialogue, debate and collaboration with MDAs to ensure the passage of the budget in record time

Aribasoye stated.

Accordingly to him, the need to prioritize sustainable development, social justice and inclusivity cannot be over emphasized adding that the state government has made some remarkable investments in renewable energy, agricultural development and promotion of natural resources.

The Assembly which also passed a vote of confidence on the governor applauded his leadership strides and commitment to making the Ekiti project a work in progress.


Earlier In his speech at the presentation , Governor Oyebanji expressed optimism that the 2024 budget will capture the basic priority needs of the states in line with current economic realities.

The 2024 appropriation bill of 159.5 billion naira is christened ‘Budget of Sustainable Growth and Development’ and it has recurrent expenditure estimate of 87.5 billion naira and capital expenditure of 71.9 billion naira.
