Ekiti Commissioner for Women Affairs, Peju Babafemi Assumes Duty, unveils 7 Focal Destinations for Ministry

The Ekiti state commissioner for women’s affairs and social development Mrs Peju Babafemi has charged officers of the ministry to brace up and key into the global standard of achieving national and local development through social work.

Mrs. Babafemi gave the charge on Monday at her assumption of work at the ministry.

The commissioner who unveiled seven destinations upon which the work of the ministry would be focused under her leadership, said that all hands must be on deck towards actualizing the development mandate given by Governor Biodun Oyebanji.

The seven areas of focus for the ministry include; increased access to family reconciliation and counseling, improved livelihood for families at the urban and grass root, reduced proportion for victims of gender-based violence, and enhanced policing development for women and girls in the state.

Other highlights are; enhanced existing well-being of the elderly, enhanced care protection and social inclusion of People with the disability and the vulnerable as well as effective engagement with mentors, volunteers, NGOs, and development partners.

In a meeting with the management staff of the ministry, Mrs. Babafemi reminded the officers of the need for compassion, right mindsets, selflessness, and harmonization of purposes towards achieving desired results.

She later inspected various offices and, promised to operate an open-door policy as well as make staff welfare and a good working environment a priority.

The permanent secretary in the ministry Mrs Adeluyi described the appointment of Mrs Babafemi as the round peg in the round hole, considering her long years of experience as a former permanent secretary in the ministry and the first female head of service in Ekiti state.

She expressed the readiness of all the officers of the ministry to support the goals of the administration.

Prayers were offered to usher-in the new leadership.
