Ekiti Govt Reaffirms Commitment to Children’s Welfare, Empowers Efon-Alaaye Residents

The Ekiti State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Olapeju Babafemi, has reiterated the Oyebanji administration’s dedication to investing in the education and well-being of children across the state.

She made this assurance during a support programme she organized for schoolchildren in Efon-Alaaye.

Speaking at the event, Mrs. Babafemi described children as the future leaders of the nation, stressing that Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s commitment to their education and holistic development remains unmatched. She noted that her initiative aligns with the administration’s focus on human capital development, which aims to uplift vulnerable groups, including widows, aged persons, and orphans.

“The programme complements the Widows, Aged, Orphans, and Hope (WAOH) initiative and the Annual Back-to-School Programmes championed by the First Lady, Dr. Oluyemi Oyebanji. These initiatives have provided vital support to numerous pupils and students across Ekiti State,” Babafemi said.

Highlighting the significance of Efon-Alaaye’s rich history of academic excellence, she expressed hope that the empowerment programme would inspire and motivate young learners to achieve greatness. “We owe it a duty to prepare and inspire the younger generation for a bright future. Today, I will distribute school bags and food items to support children and women in this community,” she stated.

The Alaaye of Efon, HRM Oba (Dr.) Adesanya Aladejare, represented by Olori Roseline Adesanya Aladejare, praised Governor Oyebanji’s administration for its continued support of Efon-Alaaye. He pledged the community’s unwavering commitment to the government’s developmental efforts.

Other dignitaries, including Chief Mrs. Aderonke Okusanya, the Elejofi of Aaye Quarters, Chief Bode Olayinka, and former local government chairmen Chief Joel Omoniyi and Hon. Stephen Adetunji, lauded Mrs. Babafemi for her impactful initiative. They described her gesture as a lasting legacy in the lives of the schoolchildren and women.

In her remarks, the Headmistress of CAC Teachers College Demonstration School, Efon-Alaaye, Mrs. Tejumade Abodunde, expressed gratitude to Mrs. Babafemi on behalf of the pupils. She commended Governor Oyebanji for his visionary leadership in advancing education in Ekiti.

The highlight of the event was the distribution of 100 school bags to schoolchildren and food items to women in the community. The initiative was widely celebrated as a testament to the government’s focus on improving the welfare of its citizens.
