EKITI HOS, AGBEDE CHARGES MDAs ON AGGRESSIVE IGR DRIVE DURING 2023 BUDGET ENVELOPE SHARING

The Ekiti State Head of Service, Barrister Bamidele Agbede has charged Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) during 2023 allocation and Budget Envelopes sharing on the need to improve on Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

Agbede while declaring open the 2023 negotiation meeting on Sectorial Allocation and Budget Envelope sharing, stated that government is mindful of the current unfavourable global economic trends as its affects the State’s economy in particular, but the government will also work on how the IGR must be improved.

He charged the officials of the MDAs to demonstrate unusual team spirit and oneness which is the hallmark of professional conduct with a view to achieving a common goal of increasing financial inflow and meeting the needs of the people through the activities of the MDAs.

Office of the Head of Service Mr Femi Bamisaye  explained that the Budget envelope sharing is in consonance with the open participatory and inclusive Budgeting policy of the present Administration which is very important as one of the prerequisites and stages in the preparation for Ekiti State annual budget.

Agbede stated that the forum will afford government institutions to deliberate on their priority projects and programmes for 2023 fiscal year in line with the six-point agenda of the present administration and the 30-years State Development Plan Policy direction which was unveiled at the twilight of the immediate past Administration.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Mr. Olusesan Alabi stated that the forum was aimed at producing a realistic fiscal estimate for year 2023 with the initial call circular to MDAs containing the 2023 budget preparation.

He explained that the technical session of the sharing of envelope will be divided into sub-sectors to allow for a cohesive and resourceful negotiation process as the basis for allocating budget envelope.
