EKITI NSCDC MARKS 2022 ICDO DAY: COMMANDANT FAYEMI SAYS TECHNOLOGICAL BREAKTHROUGH CONTRIBUTES TO INSECURITY.

As the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Ekiti State Command marks year 2022 International Civil Defence Organisation Day today 1st of March, the state commandant Mr. John Olatunde Fayemi  has explained that corps is facing a lot of challenges as a result of growing tensions in the world especially technological bearkthrough in warfare and environmental challenges.

Fayemi during a press conference noted that the populace are faced with various untold hardships and dangers thereby increasing the numbers of vulnerable groups in the society hence, the need to strike a balance between needed technological devices and those promoting dangers to the peace of the individuals and the society at large.

The theme for the 2022 ICDO day is “CIVIL DEFENCE AND MANAGEMENT OF DSIPLACED POPULATIONS IN FACE OF DISASTERS AND CRISES; ROLE OF VOLUNTEERS AND THE FIGHT AGAINST PANDEMICS”

The programme which is marked internationally is meant to affirm the commitment of Civil Defence Organisation throughout the globe to survival of mankind with a pledge of continued support to clean environment, zero tolerance to environmental degredation, avoidable disasters and other man-made problems that are bedeliveling the entire globe.

Fayemi who noted that over 2.7m displaced people in Nigeria are temporarily managed by NEMA as well as NSCDC who are manning the camps and making sure that peace reign in the country also stressed the need to maintain peace in the world as he stated that the only alternative to peace is peace. He said that the Corps will not relent in her strength to protect civilian populace from hardship

In a statement made available by the Command Spokesperson Mr Tolulope Afolabi emphasized that the celebration  was marked with various community services which includes but not limited to cleaning of drainages in the Ado Ekiti main market, free healthcare services to the market women and willing members of public.

Earlier the Commandant General of the Corps Abubakar Ahmed Audi mni PhD has congratulated officers and men of the Corps on the celebration and urged them to continue to work for the upliftment of the Corps by rendering community services and constitutional services to the people.

Commandant Fayemi who restated the commitment of Ekiti Command of NSCDC to prevention of crimes, destruction of critical national assets, mitigation of disasters and other duties thanked other sister’s agency who came to celebrate with the Command.
