Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Ekiti State Command has paraded a couple in connection with cultism, illegal drug dealings, cyber fraud and assault.
The suspects Opeyemi Olagoke 32 years and Opeyemi Oreoluwa 24 years were arrested along Tosin Aluko park in Ado Ekiti metropolis when the duo were trying to run away from men of Counter Terrorism Unit that was on patrol along that axis.
Tosin Aluko park has been a safe haven for drug dealers and users since the relocation of the park to the central district which paved way for illegal drug dealers and users to make use of the available spaces in the park for heinous activities.
In a bid to stop this illegal activities, the Counter Terrorism Unit of the Command has been patrolling this area deterring both users and sellers as criminal gangs always make use of the avenue to plan their dastard acts.
The suspects who resisted arrest there by created several problems by beating up officers, tearing their uniforms and created another narrative, called on the onlookers to attack the officers which they declined. A short axe and a Cutlass were recovered from the scene of the arrest.
The CTU acted professionally by allowing the suspects and other onlookers to cover the scene with their phone and camera before taking him to the headquarters of the Command.
The State Commandant Mr Toma Matthew Enya pslc commented on the arrest with the assurance that the command is always ready to protect Fundamental Human Rights of the people at all times and the people should also reciprocate this whenever their attentions are needed.
He insisted that suspects have their own right within the law which must not be trampled upon and also, people should protect officers who are on lawful duties because they are serving the state which belongs to everybody.
The State Commandant assured that decisive action will be taken on the side of the law after preliminary investigation has been concluded in no distant time.
