The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Peju Babafemi has charged social workers to be passionate in the way they discharge their duties.
Babafemi gave the charge during a courtesy visit of the Executive members of the Ekiti State Chapter of the Nigeria Association of Social Workers (NASOW) to her Office in Ado.
While commending the Executive members for the great pioneering work being done by them, she urged them to imbibe the spirit of comradeship and collaborate for effective social work practice.
In a statement by the Director Press of the Ministry Mr Femi Bamisaye, Babafemi reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji led – Administration to the people’s well-being and prosperity.
She said the six pillars of the Administration are people-oriented and that social workers have critical roles to play in confronting the challenges of contemporary times.
Babafemi who described the social work profession as fulfilling, stressed the need for practitioners to update their knowledge through continuing professional development.
She expressed the readiness of her ministry to synergize with relevant Associations for effective social work practice in Ekiti State.
Earlier, the State Chairman of the Nigeria Association of Social Workers Mr. Tope Adeusi congratulated the Commissioner and described her appointment as a round peg in a round hole.
He pledged the support of the members of the association for the Ministry in implementing its laws and policies to enhance the welfare and development of Ekiti people regardless of gender, religion or status.
