The Chairman of Emure Local Government, Hon. Joseph Adu has presented a budget proposal of One billion, Nine hundred and Ninety Five Million Naira for 2023 fiscal year to the Legislative Arm of the council for consideration and passage.
Hon. Adu during the presentation of the proposed estimates at the Council Secretariat in Emure Ekiti, sought the cooperation of the people of the local government towards building a viable and a virile local government
The Council boss explained that
the Budget tagged “Budget of Consolidation” Was tailored towards the six pillars of the oyebanji administration.
“Distinguish members of this legislative house, my administration has completed arrangements to design a new Dawn in governance in our council as epitomized by the Executive Governor of our dear state, His Excellency Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji” the chairman said.
Analyzing the budget figures, he said that the recurrent expenditure would take N951,000,000 while capital expenditure gulp N1,094,000,000.
” In compliance with the provision of Section 44 Sub section 3 of the Ekiti State Local Government Administration law of 1999 as amended, it is in pursuant of this that I present an amount of One Billion, Nine Hundred and Ninety Five Million Naira
( N,1,995,000,000 ) only as year 2023 budget” Adu said.
“Eight hundred and twenty million Naira (N820,000,000) was earmarked for personnel cost, provision of socio-welfare and security of our people to enhance good governance and we proposed Fifteen Million Naira (N15,000,000) to enhance skill development and employment generation for our teeming youths.” The Council boss noted.
Also Hon. Adu noted that a sum of Seven hundred and forty Million Naira (N740,000,000) for provision of infrastructure and three hundred million naira (N300,000,000) was earmarked to boost Agric business towards creating wealth and enhanced food security.
“In the budget presented today, a sum of Seventy Five Million Naira (N75,000,000) only had been set aside to boost Arts, culture and Tourism potential in Emure Local Government, while to improve competence and workers efficiency, a sum of Seventy Nine Million Naira (N79,000,000) only was earmarked” He explained.
The chairman who thanked members of the legislative council for their cooperation, also noted that all efforts must be geared towards the success of the fiscal budget proposal by the regular payment of taxes by the people.
“I want to register my sincere appreciation before this honourable house for your support, since the inception of this administration and I equally want to passionately appeal to our people to please pay up thier taxes or any rates to engender development in our Area” Hon Adu explained.
The Leader of the Legislative house, Rt. Hon. Kolawole Ogundare on behalf of other members of the house, assured the council boss of their total commitment to the success of his administration.
“The business of the day is the presentation of year 2023 Appropriation Budget by the Executive chairman, Hon Adu Joseph and it is to sustain the established tradition as in all the tiers of Government, to this end, we are happy with the step taken by our chairman, Ogundare remarked.
He appealed to members of the community to help improve on the council internally generated revenue while calling on rates collectors to be more dedicated to duties.
Present at the event were other members of the council Executive, Community leaders, Security Agents and other stakeholders who commended the council chairman for his transparency and due process.
