ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION EXERCISE: OLATUNBOSUN, TOSIN-ALUKO SATISFIED WITH LEVEL OF COMPLIANCE

The Commissioner for Information Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun and his counterpart in the Ministry of Environment Erelu Tosin Aluko-Ajisafe have expressed their level of satisfaction during Environment Sanitation Exercise observed today.

The duo who went round the major places in Ado Ekiti, the state capital to inspect the effectiveness of the
exercise of the exercise warned few defaulters caught during the exercise to desist from such act from henceforth.

Speaking with newsmen during the exercise, the commissioner for Environment Erelu Tosin-Aluko Ajisafe said though the level of compliance has improved but there’s still room for more improvement. She expressed concerns about Oke Isa market where marketers are still recalcitrant. She stressed that covering the gutters which serves as waterways thereby causing obstruction to the free flow of erosion will not be condoned henceforth.

Erelu who was welcomed by Iyaloja Okesa sent a stern warning to those involved in the act to desist from such act or face the full wrath of Environmental law.

Reacting, The Commissioner for Information Hon Taiwo Olatunbosun said February Edition will be tougher and stricter. “It’s the first exercise of the year and the enforcement will be minimal as there are no plans for prosecution today, but people should be aware that Abayomi Oyebanji led administration has zero tolerance to untidy environment that can stir up epidemics. The Governor has shown his commitment through the approval of enormous amount being expended on fabrication of 20 Dino Bins which when completed soon will be placed at strategic places for easy accessibility”

The SA/DG OTSD, Dr John Ekundayo who was part of the inspection expressed satisfaction, noting that office of Transformation and Service Delivery will stop at nothing to support ministry of Environment achieve its commitment to making Ekiti an epidemic free state.
