Erstwhile Speaker EKHA Tunji Odeyemi May Leave PDP

The former Speaker, Ekiti House of Assembly, Mr Tunji Odeyemi has threatened to resign his 22 years membership with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) if something urgent is not done by the National body of the party to address his grievances.

Odeyemi said his decision was as a result of the unjust and unfair treatment melted to him in the recent happenings in PDP in Ekiti, particularly in its last National Assembly primary.

The former Ekiti Assembly speaker and former Acting-Governor said this during an interview with Press Men on Saturday in Ado-Ekiti.

Odeyemi said he has being consistent in loyalty and membership to PDP in the last 22 years, but that going by the recent developments in the party, particularly in Ekiti, he may have no choice to than to pitch his tent with another political party.

He said his denial of the House of Representatives ticket for the Ekiti South Federal Constituency 11 revealed that his loyalty to PDP has not being valued.

“Since I left the House of Assembly, every agreement I have with the leadership of PDP in Ekiti has being breached.

“In the just concluded National Assembly primary of PDP, I vied for the Representative tickets of Ekiti South Federal Constituency 2, the ticket was given to another person.

“I am using this medium to call on the PDP national leaders led by Sen. Iyorchia Ayu to wade into this matter and correct the anomalies.

“In the next 14 days, if nothing is done to correct the anomalies, I may not have another choice than to resign my membership from PDP.

“I believe the PDP knows the implications of my leaving at this crucial time that the party is trying its best to rescue the Country from her challenges,”Odeyemi said.

He, however, said that, if the PDP National leaders and other stakeholders can do something urgent to asuade his grieviences, he would always remain loyal and supportive to the party and jettison his planned detection.

It will be recalled that Odeyemi was the Ekiti House of Speaker and Acting-Governor between February 2009 to May 2009.
