The Wife of the Ekiti State Governor Erelu Bisi Fayemi has inaugurated 2 additional Satellite Sexual Assault Referrer Center in the state with the aim of ensuring that victims of sexual abuse are well catered for without delay.
The SARCs centers are located at the Premises of the Specialist Hospitals at Ikole and Ikere Ekiti.
Erelu Fayemi who decried the rate of sexual abuse especially on minions said that with the enabling laws in place perpetrators would be prosecuted without further delay.
According to the Governor’s Wife the present administration has zero tolerance against gender bases violence hence the need to always report cases.
Erelu Fayemi noted that the SARCs center would provide Psycho Social support, medical, legal advice, education, shelter and economic support for victims at no cost for victims.
Also the SARCs Coordinator Mrs Rita Ilevbare said that the Clinic was established as a one stop centre to foster a supportive environment where sexual violence survivors rights and interest are protected and their dignity respected
Earlier the Commissioner for Health and Human services Dr Oyebanji Filani and his counterpart in the Ministry of Education Dr Bimpe Aderiye commended the Governor’s Wife for ensuring that Ekiti State has the needed facility to provide better service delivery for GBV victims.
The two newly inaugurated SARCs centers in Ekiti North and Ekiti South senatorial districts is expected to complement the Moremi Clinic at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital in Ado the state capital.
At the programme were the Deputy Governor Elect Mrs Monisade Afuye ,the Wife of the Governor Elect Dr Olayemi Oyebanji among others.
