FIWASAYE OLD GIRLS ASSOCIATION (FOGA)’S LEADERSHIP CALLS FOR CONCERTED EFFORTS AT SUSTAINING REPUTATION OF THEIR ALMA MATER.

The National President, FIWASAYE Old Girls Association  (FOGA) Mrs Funwa Agbi has called on all alumni of Fiwasaye Girls Grammar School Akure, Ondo State to join in the effort of rebuilding and rebranding the school for its long existing reputation of being Primus interpares.

Mrs Agbi made this known at the National Convention of the Association on Saturday 25th of June 2022, hosted by the Ibadan branch.

At the Programme which was aided by virtual technology to allow the participation of members in Diaspora, the National President Mrs Funwa Agbi went memory lane saying that ever since the establishment of the Citadel of learning in January 1960 by Anglican Church, the school had produced and modelled Women of values and valour in the society as well as equipped them with morals and discipline for leadership.

According to her

“Fiwasaye Old Girls’ Association (FOGA) is now a worldwide name that is always making many people proud, based on love,unity of purpose, vision and their total dedication to developing their Alma mater. In many ways  the old girls have contributed to the uplift of the school since the inauguration of FOGA by the founding Principal, Miss Jane Pelly

She commended the current students of the school for maintaining the academic excellence, good character and neatness that they were known from the 60s. She charged them to always remember the name of the school. “FIWA SE AYE RE” meaning that Character is key to living a good life.In her remarks, the Ekiti State President of FOGA, Mrs Funmi Olotu noted that the bi -annual convention which was to foster unity among the old students, had also served as a platform to offer assistance to current and old students facing challenges, as well as help to strategize and raise funds to intervene in infrastructural development of the school.She explained that the gathering had been very helpful in human and infrastructural development of the school as government  cannot do all alone due to increasing number of schools and the economic trend in the nation.Mrs Olootu highlighted some of the Contribution of the Ekiti state branch of FOGA to include the donation of needful items during the 2020 global health challenge of Covid- 19. She called on others alumni to join in the effort of giving back to their source.

The Ekiti FOGA  President charged  members to make the best use of the monthly meeting holding every 3rd Thursday of the month for their capacity development, acquisition of social capital, Talks, prayer sessions and sharing of their experiences to lighten their burdens.To mark the 60th anniversary of Fiwasaiye Girls Grammar School,  the old students had embarked on the renovation of existing structures, aside from other projects carried out in times past.
