An All Progressives Congress Chieftain Pastor Olatunde Oluwafemi has stressed the need for well meaning individuals to always give to the less privilege and the needy in the society.
Pastor Oluwafemi who is popularly
called, “Geleti Super” made the statement at Emure Ekiti on boxing day while playing host to some widows and widowers in Emure Local Government Area of the State.
He said his decision to help others was influenced by the experience he had while growing up.adding that mothers make a lot of sacrifices to make their families and the society a better place, and as such they are worthy of being appreciated and celebrated.
“Why we are here today is because of our burning desire to take care of the downtrodden in our neighborhood,
I am an APC stalwart in Emure Ekiti and it is important for me to help our party and government to take care of our people, he said.
According to him “the widows and widowers are not been remembered and we need to encourage them, they lost their spouses, most of them lost their jobs, so we have to take it upon ourselves to make sure that they are happy this festive period and even after, we are prepared to give our little assistance.
The Emure Ekiti born philanthropist said
that the country would become a better society if government at all levels were supported by the well to do individuals in the Nation.
The political juggernaut while reeling out his plans for the youth in the local government, lamented the way the youths were being neglected
‘We have so many plans for our youths been the most productive population in our society, sorry to say this our youths are been neglected in this local government and if they are not empowermed, our society and system will collapse” he noted.
We have a lot of graduates and Master degree holders in their midsts but they now do Okada business, Timber logging and other menial jobs, we need to come to their rescue.
“I organized a football competition so times ago and I discovered we have a lot of talents in the town, all we need to do is to discover them and help them get a club and they will be useful to themselves, their family and the society at Large” he said.
Apart from football we also give scholarship to as many of them that are brilliant and ready to further their education in Nigeria or abroad.
Honorable Olatunde Oluwafemi commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for raising the bar of governance in the state and called on the citizens to keep supporting the Governor towards implementing his six points agenda.
” He has done wonderfully well, though we can not have a perfect government, unless we have good people around him that will support him like we are doing today”, Pastor Oluwafemi explained.
” The initiatives he has brought on board are highly commendable, I have seen transparency, accountability and sincerity, gratuities of pensioners are being offset, workers salaries are paid as at when and due and provision of massive infrastructure, indeed he has not been found wanting, for me he has done wonderfully well, kudos” he remarked.
His wife, Pastor Mrs Toyin Oluwafemi said that the boxing day gifts to the widows and widowers were the climax of series of empowerment programmes sponsored by her husband to reach out to the people.
According to her, “We started this since Sunday and we just rounded up today, it is a festive season and many people are not privilege to have enough to eat and when God blesses you, you should give”
On Sunday we went to wards to distribute food items and cash gift.
And on Monday, being the Christmas day, we gave the aged people that we couldn’t gathered on a spot, we went to their houses and testimonies abound
More so, my husband is a politician and he has to extend hands of fellowship and love to his people periodically, She stated.
Pastor Mrs Oluwafemi called on politicians and church leaders to always help the poor in their vicinity.
” I am talking to Politicians and Churches, their duty is to take care of the less privilege, when you move them up, that is when you can say you have lived, but when you oppress them and you are gone, God will bring another person that will lift them up”
“We bring nothing to this world and we will not take anything away, so whatever God give you, remember to be good to people around you” she noted.
A widow Mrs Titilayo Oke and Mr Bashorun Mustapha as we well as Mr Toyin Yisa extolled the virtues of Pastor Olatunde Oluwafemi.
” This is not the first time he is reaching out to us, he has been doing it regularly and we pray that God will continue to bless him and his family in whatever they do, we thank him a lot and we want to tell him that we appreciate everything he is doing”, they said.
