The Chairman of Ido/Osi Local Government Area, Dr. Sola Ogunshina has charged local Government workers in the state to renew their commitment in order to ensure effective running of the third tier of government 

Dr Ogunsina gave the charge at a general meeting with the local government workforce held on Tuesday at the local government Secretariat in Ido-Ekiti.

The Chairman said it was important for public Servants to be dedicated and committed in the discharge of their duties, in order to actualize  fruition for government’s efforts at the grassroot.

Addresing the issue of punctuality, Ogunsina noted that transparency and adherenc to the Civil Service Rules and Procurement Procedures, must not be taken with levity, stressing that if the local government must meet the expectation of the citizens.

He emphasized that the Local Government was one of the priority arms of the current administration in the state, and was expected to deliver dividends of democracy by moving the economy forward.

According to him, the workers can only justify the confidence reposed in them by being more efficient in service delivery for greater impact on the Local Government and the people.

The council boss also told the Civil servants that the current administration of Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji expects them to be dedicated, shun truancy as well as absentism at their duty Posts.

He added that efforts are on the top gear to ensure the Provision of infrastructure such as inadequate of furniture receive attention and to make the working environment conducive for the workers.

Dr. Ogunshina urged the workers to remain conscientious, determined and diligent at work in order to attain the vision of the Government at the grassroot.

In his words

“Be punctual and dutiful in the discharge of your duties as such would help you receive tremendous blessings from God Almighty, ohun ti a ba fi gbogbo Ara she ise fun, Ni pe lowo eni“.

On his part, the head of the Local Government Administration, Chief Oluremi Omidiji urged the staff to work as a team while noting that the country was not as buoyant as it used to be, impact must be made with the little that was available, as the government was focused on the recovery of the economy

He added that the local government workers were aware of the enormous responsibilities and expectations of the government, while expressing the hope that the workforce will justify the confidence reposed in them.

The NULGE Chairman in the area, Mr. Ayodeji Ogunjobi commended the chairman for the initiative, pledging the commitment of the entire workforce towards the actualisation of the dreams of the current administration at the local government and the state at large.

In the meantime, Dr. Sola Ogunshina at a meeting with some leadership of the Labour Intensive Public Works engaged to perform some menial jobs at the local government area tasked them to continually exhibit transparency and integrity as they serve the local government.

The Chairman who addressed the Labour group at a closed door meeting in his office urged them to ensure they work within the stipulated time of four hours a day within five days, which he said was in the extant rules that established them.

He told them that arrangements have been put in place to ensure a Community leader selected in the area of their jurisdictions, monitors their activities in order to guide against sharp practices.

“I want you to work within the objectives of the organization that established you, that states you should work within the minimum of four hours a day within five days. But when some of you refused to show up such could be counter-productive and the objectives defeated”. He said.

In a remark, the HOD Community Department, Mrs. Fakunle told the workers that they could be redeployed to work anywhere within the local government, she added that the place include, general places such as the palaces, motor parks, markets among others.

Israel Ajibola who spoke on behalf of his colleagues lauded the present administration at the local government for the prompt payment of their allowances, while reiterated that the entire group would leave no stone unturned at ensuring they adhere to the directives.

The Chairman However assured the workers that his administration would continue to encourage hard work amongst its staff by providing a more conducive environment that would encourage dedication and efficient service delivery.
