The Ilasa Development Union, IDU, has announced plans to mark the 10th coronation anniversary of the Alasa of Ilasa Ekiti, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ajayi Oluwasesan Omolagba, in grand style this September.
The event is expected to draw dignitaries, indigenes, and well-wishers from far and wide to celebrate what has been described as a decade of peaceful and progressive reign by the traditional ruler.
According to a statement jointly signed by the National President of the Union, Tajudeen Olutope Ahmed, Esq., and the National Secretary, Adebayo Bode-Thomas, the celebration will serve as an opportunity to honour the monarch’s contributions to the growth and transformation of Ilasa Ekiti, a community in Ekiti East Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
The Union noted that Oba Omolagba’s ten years on the throne have brought remarkable development to the town, citing his unwavering commitment to community development, cultural preservation, and youth empowerment as key highlights of his reign. “Ilasa has witnessed infrastructural uplift, peaceful coexistence, and enhanced communal unity under his leadership,” the statement said.
The IDU, which serves as the umbrella body for all sons and daughters of Ilasa Ekiti at home and in the diaspora, described the monarch as a beacon of hope and symbol of progressive leadership. It added that the royal father’s leadership style has continued to attract respect and admiration both within and outside the town.
The grand finale of the anniversary celebration is scheduled to hold on Saturday, 13th September, 2025, at the Oba Omolagba Pavilion, Alasa Palace, Ilasa Ekiti. The event will commence by 10:00 a.m. and will feature cultural displays, goodwill messages, and tributes to mark the milestone.
The Union called on all indigenes of Ilasa Ekiti, as well as friends and associates of the town, to turn out in large numbers to celebrate with the royal father. “It is a moment of pride for the entire community and a celebration of our shared heritage,” the Union stated.
The IDU also expressed appreciation to all individuals and groups who have supported the monarch’s efforts and the community’s development over the past decade. It pledged to continue working closely with the traditional institution to promote unity and progress in Ilasa Ekiti.
As preparations continue, the town is already agog with excitement as residents look forward to welcoming guests and celebrating a monarch they say has truly made a difference in their lives.
