Maternal, Child health week: Ekiti Governor’s Wife Olayemi Abiodun-Oyebanji charges Nursing Mothers, Pregnant women to take advantage of free health programs

The wife of the Ekiti State Governor, Dr Olayemi Abiodun-Oyebanji has enjoined pregnant women and Nursing mothers to make themselves available for the free health intervention billed to take place in the state from tomorrow to the 1st of August.

She gave the charge while flagging off the maternal new born and child health week in Ekiti State, organized by the state food and Nutrition çommittee in collaboration with the state Primary Health Care Agency.

Dr Abiodun-Oyebanji said that the present government was poised at reducing maternal and child mortality and also improve the health and wellness of the people.

She noted that the exercise would hold at all government health facilities and some designated places across the 16 Local Government Areas and the 22 Local Council Development Areas of the State.

Earlier the Special Adviser to the state governor on Budget and Economic Planning, Mr Niyi Adebayo had decorated the wife of the governor as Nutrition Champion, noting that the program further showcase the commitment of the state government to the well being of her citizens.

The chairman state food and Nutrition çommittee, Pastor Olusesan Alabi expressed the hope that the health week would change the narrative of poor record of the state in respect of child mortality.

He encouraged pregnant women and Nursing mothers to avail themselves the opportunity of the program.

There goodwill messages from the Secretary to the state government, Dr Habitat Adubiaro represented by the permanent secretary cabinet, Mrs Oyeyemi Kayode-Ojo, the speacial Adviser on Health, Dr Filani Oyebanji and the state Algon Chairman.
