The State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Ekiti State Command Mr Agboola Adisa Sunday has cautioned Ekiti youths who are planning to come out during the proposed nationwide protest to know that fundamental human rights of the people must be protected and they should refrain from destruction of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure.
According to a statement by the CDPRO, the infrastructure and public utilities which are supporting survival of the people are assured of maximum protection against destruction and vandalization.
The State Commandant who said this while addressing Divisional Officers, Area Commanders and other ranks during an emergency meeting at the State Headquarters along Ado/Ikere road Ekiti State noted that, fundamental rights of the people is sacrosanct, the people have the right to protest but they should also remember that, others need their support to enjoy their rights.
Mr Agboola called on the youths to apply moderacy in all their endeavours even during the proposed protest as Security Operatives are ready to protect protesters but warned that destruction of national infrastructure will not be entertained by the command as deployments have been made in areas that we have Critical National Infrastructure, sacred places and other private businesses that are driving Ekiti economy so that the state economic activities will not be affected negatively.
The Commandant cautioned Divisional Officers in their respective jurisdictions to shun high handedness , negligence and over zealousness that can degenerate into unecessary arguments with protesters while noting that cautions from officers are needed to control and dissuade people from creating hardships along with the current conditions that are enumerated by the proposed protesters.
