The Chairman of Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government, Mr. Gbenga Oluwatuyi, has hailed the Senate Leader, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, for his exceptional developmental strides across the Ekiti Central Senatorial District, describing his efforts as transformative and unprecedented in the state’s history.
Oluwatuyi, speaking to journalists on Friday, applauded Bamidele’s leadership, especially in spearheading infrastructural and socio-economic projects that have elevated the standard of living in various communities. He said the senator’s impact cuts across critical sectors including education, healthcare, electricity, and entrepreneurship.
A major highlight of Bamidele’s contribution, according to Oluwatuyi, is his sponsorship of the bill that established the Federal University of Technology and Environmental Science, Iyin-Ekiti, noting that the institution’s establishment is a milestone in the educational and technological advancement of Ekiti State.
The council chairman also commended the commissioning of ultra-modern markets in Aramoko, Igede, and Iyin-Ekiti, stating that these initiatives would boost local commerce, generate employment, and support economic sustainability, especially through night market activities.
In human capital development, Oluwatuyi cited the renovation of the Women Skill Acquisition Center in Igede-Ekiti as a laudable effort by Bamidele to empower women with practical skills for financial independence and entrepreneurship.
Also on rural electrification, the chairman highlighted Bamidele’s distribution of transformers to underserved communities, which has significantly enhanced electricity access, improved business operations, and increased the overall quality of life in those areas.
Oluwatuyi further revealed that 100 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the state had received grants of N100,000 each, through an empowerment initiative facilitated by Bamidele to promote self-employment and reduce poverty among grassroots entrepreneurs.
He praised the senator’s contributions to youth and sports development, including the construction of mini-stadia across five local governments, which he said would serve as platforms for talent discovery, youth engagement, and community integration.
The health sector, according to Oluwatuyi, has also benefited from Bamidele’s touch, with projects such as a medical hostel at Ekiti State University, an ambulance donation to the state teaching hospital, and the provision of an FM radio station to enhance health information dissemination.
Oluwatuyi congratulated Senator Bamidele on his recent honorary PhD from Ekiti State University, describing it as a well-deserved recognition of his dedication to service. He urged Ekiti residents to continue supporting the senator and the Biodun Oyebanji-led administration to sustain the momentum of progress and development.
