OPEN LETTER TO EKITI STATE NEW CHIEF OF STAFF, HON. TOLU IBITOLA

By Olutayo Akinyede.

First and foremost, I want to use this medium to congratulate Hon. Tolu Ibitola on your appointment as the Ekiti state new Chief of staff to Governor Kayode Fayemi, I pray God will give you more wisdom, knowledge and understanding to excel in your new portfolio.

The essence of writing this open letter to you is to ensure you succeed in the lofty assignment just given to you by the State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi. Sir, some people have occupied this position before you.

While some former Chief of staffs have done very well, some other have done very badly. One of the former Chief of staff that have done well is Hon. Yemi Adaramodu, a member of House of Representative from Ilawe-Ekiti. He, Yemi Adaramodu as a Chief of staff operated OPEN system.

Hon. Yemi Adaramodu brought governance to the grassroots, he responded to calls and replied text messages of all individuals, party men and women. He was generous and ensured he helped all manner of people at the time. Hon. Yemi Adaramodu records up till today remains intact and his political career is soaring on daily basis, soon by God’s grace Hon. Yemi Adaramodu will become a Senator of the Federal Republic due to his antecedent while he was the Chief of Staff to Governor Kayode Fayemi.

Unfortunately, some former Chief of Staffs are also neither here nor there politically, their political career hang in balance because they did not used their office to elevate people, particularly party men and women.

They didn’t pick calls neither replied to text messages when they were in office, they operated CLOSED system, they made themselves thin god but now they are also reaping the fruits of their labour politically.
Sir, all my analysis is to bring to your notice that, whatever you do today become history tomorrow.

Fortunately, your appointment is coming at a time you need people to achieve victory for APC governorship candidate, Hon.Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, BAO in the forthcoming Ekiti governorship election. Sir, these are steps you need to take to add values to what Governor Kayode Fayemi has been doing in Ekiti state to achieve maximum results.

(1). Wide Consultation with all stakeholders and aggrieved party members:- I am happy you have started consultations in earnest by meeting towns and communities leaders but please include aggrieved party members in your consultations, simple handshakes may pacify some people.

(2). Operate open system:- It’s important to make your doors open to everyone particularly party men and women, just like Hon. Yemi Adaramodu did when he was the Chief of Staff.

(3). Attend to calls and text messages, don’t feel too important to pick calls and ensure you reply to all text messages no matter what. Some people will call you to offer advise, not everyone calling you will want to “beg for money”. This is very important.

(4). Be humble and be respectful to everyone:- This is also important, don’t allow anyone to have bad impression about you, particularly party leaders and elders.

(5). Seek Advice from ordinary people:- Those at your level may not tell you the truth because of their personal and selfish interest but the ordinary party members on the streets will always tell you the truth. Bible says, seek wisdom, this is important.
Finally, I wish you a very best of luck in your new portfolio.

Hon. Olutayo Akinyede, Esq.
