The Nigeria Representative at the World Peace Organization (WPO) and Director General of the World Peace Negotiations Committee (WPNC), Prof. Muyiwa Akinyemi Babalola has called on the Presidential candidates of the two major Political parties in Nigeria, APC Asiwaju Tinubu and the PDP Atiku Abubakar to ensure that Peace and non violence remain the heartbeat of their campaigns.
In a statement personally signed and made available to the Press, the WPNC DG noted that it becomes imperative to call the attention of flag bearers to the functions of the World Peace Organization.
He said that the international body is responsible for handling Negotiation for conflict resolutions.
Babatola charged the Candidates to portray nationalism and patriotism in selling themselves to Nigerians.
The Peace Advocate condemned the recent attack by some unknown gunmen at St’ Francis Catholic Church, Owo on in Nigeria where the death toll had just increased above 40.
According to Him
” we should develop a force capable of spreading a massive and National wave of love and harmonious Peace throughout. We feel we are capable to overcome once and for all the negative energies of violence, hatred, war, terrorism, the blood of innocents, genocide and death in general.
Let’s us end rudeness in Nigeria leading to poor management of aggressive impulses at Local, States and National levels.
Let’s use all possible means and especially our intellectual literary talent and our ability to generate a free space for reflection thoughts and interchanging of ideas where respect for each other’s idea is the key to open the closed minds.
Therefore, the idea is to create a new style of social harmony among us, and a technique to resolve conflicts peacefully.
We only need to join hands around this dream to be actualised. We don’t want terrorism, neither war. We simply want a green planet earth where we can see our children grow everywhere, without any distinction of race or faith.
To this end, violent behaviour has become deeply integrated into modern society but examining Peace making strategies through a critical and academic perspective can assist in resolving violent in Nigeria.
All these will lead to understanding, respect and would help in eliminating the causes of conflict, war, terror and would promote reconciliation and peace”
