The Overseeing Commissioner for the State Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Utilities in Ekiti state, Prof. Bolaji Aluko has assured residents that a high level of improvement in the supply of potable water , sanitation and Hygiene would be witnessed in no distant time.
Aluko at a meeting with the Federal Programme Implementing Unit team (FPIU) of the Sustainable Urban, Rural Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene explained that the programme kicked off in January this year, in partnership with the World Bank was designed to strengthen relevant institutions, sectors and policies to ultimately increase access to water supply, sanitation and hygiene in the State.
A statement made available to the press by the Ekiti SURWASH Programme Communication Officer Oyerinde Yetunde oluwafunke had revealed that officials were in the State on a Technical Support Mission and sites screening for the proposed projects.
Reiterating the commitment of the Fayemi led administration to the welfare of people in the State, Prof Aluko said that the present administration would continue to work assiduously till the very the last hour in office.
He said that no stone would be left unturned towards improving the general wellbeing of the people while commending the development partners as well as soliciting stakeholders’ support in the development efforts of the Fayemi led government.
The Co-Programme Coordinator, Mr. Dahiru Abdulkarim revealed that the team was visited the state to interact with the stakeholders on how best to ensure successful implementation of the programme, monitor and supervise the level of preparedness as well as educate the people on the various components of the project.
The team was on a tour of the Ministry of Infrastucture and Public Utilities, the headquarters of the State Water Corporation in Ado Ekiti, the office of the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation at Ikere Ekiti and some project sites including Awo
Ekiti and Araromi-Obo Ekiti.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Utilities, Engr. Olumide Ajayi pledged the commitment of all the stakeholders by using Complimentary mechanism to ensure successful implementation.
Also, the programme Coordinator Engr Adewumi Stephen expressed readiness of the State Implementation Unit for proper coordination of the programme towards achieving desires results of SURWASH in the state.
