World Teachers’Day, Parting Gifts: Fayemi Dolls out Ten Million Naira Each to Best Teachers, Primary, Secondary Schools in Ekiti

Ekiti State government has gifted the best primary and secondary school teachers in the state, Mrs Adeyemi Omolade and Mrs Mary kupolati ten million naira each while others outstanding one went home with cash gifts

Presenting the money to the outstanding teachers in Ado Ekiti during this year’s Teachers’ Day, governor Fayemi said billions of naira had been sent to reposition primary and secondary education to meet modern standard.

 

He called on teachers in Ekiti State to cooperate with the administration of governor elect, Mr Biodun Oyebanji.

In his speech, Chairman Academic Staff union of secondary school Ekiti state chapter, Mr Sola Adigun who appreciated governor Fayemi for given recognition to the union appealed to government to pay all outstanding of teachers before the expiration of his tenure on the fifteen of this month.

On his own, the State Chairman of Nigeria union of Teachers NUT, Mr Emmanuel oke appealed to the state government to employ more teachers to fill the vacant posts.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Basic Education Staff Association of Nigeria, BESAN, Ekiti State Branch, Oyindamola Ogundumiye called for the overhauling of secondary school curriculum to meet up with modern day reality.

Mr Ogundumiye who stated this while speaking with our correspondent on this year’s teachers’ day also called on government to review upward budgetary allocation for secondary education for optimal performance.
