ROLL MUTE UPSOUND

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate in the recently concluded Ekiti State governorship election, Dr Wole Oluyede, has pledged to work with Governor Biodun Oyebanji in promoting peace, development and the wellbeing of the people

Oluyede made the commitment during the Governor Oyebanji visit to his residence in Ikere Ekiti, where they held a closed door meeting. Oluyede, who thanked the Governor for the visit, commended the development strides of the Oyebanji administration

He said the Governor had demonstrated quality leadership through initiatives designed to improve the lives of citizens, stressing that political differences should not become barriers to ideas and actions capable of moving Ekiti forward, promising to support the efforts of building a united political front for the mobilisation of support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the January 2027 election.

He described the political stability in Ekiti as an opportunity that should be deliberately preserved to attract serious minded investors and developers, arguing that peace and stability remain important conditions for sustained economic activity and development.

Responding, Governor Oyebanji who described Oluyede as a longstanding friend and ally who had demonstrated patriotism and commitment to the development of Ekiti State, thanked the PDP candidate for his willingness to cooperate with the administration, stressing that his government would continue to engage leaders and stakeholders across political divides in the interest of the state.

Oyebanji said useful ideas for Ekiti’s development could emerge from different political platforms, adding that what mattered was the ability to identify, harness and translate such ideas into policies and programmes that would benefit the people.

He said the administration would continue to pursue inclusive engagement, dialogue and cooperation, regardless of political affiliation, as part of efforts to consolidate peace and accelerate development across the state.
