Engineer Olaoluwa Dawodu lauds Oyebanji’s security investment, hails 100 vehicles for security agencies
An Australia based Nigerian Chartered Professional Engineer and Ekiti indigene, Engr. Olaoluwa Dawodu, has commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for strengthening the security architecture of Ekiti State through sustained investment in security agencies.
Dawodu, in a statement made available to the press in Ado Ekiti through one of his aides particularly praised the Governor for the recent distribution of 100 operational vehicles to security agencies across the state, describing the initiative as a significant intervention that would improve the mobility, visibility and operational effectiveness of security personnel.
He noted that security remains fundamental to sustainable development, stressing that no state can fully realise its economic potential without an environment where residents, businesses and investors can operate with confidence.
According to him, the provision of the vehicles would enhance patrol operations, facilitate faster response to distress calls and strengthen the capacity of security agencies to protect lives and property.
The engineer said the intervention was also significant because it demonstrated that the Oyebanji administration was treating security as a continuous responsibility rather than a response to isolated security challenges. He recalled that the Governor had previously provided patrol vehicles, Armoured Personnel Carriers, bulletproof vests, helmets and other equipment to security agencies, describing the latest intervention as further evidence of sustained attention to the sector.
Dawodu commended the Governor for extending support across different security agencies and for recognising the importance of collaboration in maintaining peace. He said the involvement of the Police, Army, NSCDC, DSS and local security outfits would provide a broader operational framework for confronting security challenges at both state and community levels.
He particularly welcomed the fact that the vehicles would also support the eventual take off of the proposed Ekiti State Police Outfit, describing the development as an important step towards strengthening the state’s capacity for coordinated security management. He urged the benefiting agencies to ensure proper utilisation and maintenance of the vehicles so that the investment would deliver sustained value to the people.
The engineer also called for stronger cooperation among security agencies, saying the effectiveness of modern security operations depends not only on equipment but also on intelligence sharing, technology, coordination and professional conduct. He commended Governor Oyebanji for urging the agencies to maximise available surveillance technology and work together rather than operate in isolation.
Dawodu said the relative peace being experienced in Ekiti should be protected through continuous investment in security personnel, equipment, intelligence gathering and community based security initiatives. He also commended security personnel and local security networks for their sacrifices, urging them to reciprocate the state government’s support through professionalism, vigilance and responsible deployment of the newly provided vehicles.
He said Governor Oyebanji’s approach to security was important not only for the immediate protection of citizens but also for the long term development of Ekiti, noting that a secure environment would encourage investment, facilitate economic activities and give residents greater confidence in the future of the state.
Dawodu therefore urged Ekiti stakeholders, traditional institutions, community leaders, youths and residents to support security agencies with useful information and cooperation, stressing that the responsibility for maintaining peace should not be left entirely to government and security personnel.
