The chairman of Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government, Hon. Gbenga Oluwatuyi, has felicitated with the people of his council area and the entire Christian community on the celebration of Easter, urging them to reflect deeply on the values of sacrifice, love, and hope symbolised by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
In his Easter message, Oluwatuyi who described the season as one of deep spiritual significance, stressing that it offers a moment of renewal for individuals and communities urged residents to embrace unity, peace, and collective responsibility as tools for building a stronger and more prosperous local government.
The chairman commended the people of Irepodun/Ifelodun for their continuous support for his administration and their peaceful conduct over time, assuring that his government remains focused on delivering people-oriented programmes that would enhance socio-economic development across the council.
He lauded the contributions of churches and religious leaders in fostering moral discipline, community cohesion, and interfaith understanding, calling for continued collaboration with religious institutions in order to sustain peace and social stability.
Oluwatuyi used the opportunity to highlight the development projects embarked upon under his leadership, including road rehabilitation, market upgrades, improved access to healthcare, and youth empowerment initiatives. He noted that more interventions were underway to improve living standards in the local government.
He expressed appreciation to Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to grassroots development. According to him, the synergy between the state and local governments has accelerated infrastructure development and strengthened governance in Ekiti.
Oluwatuyi described Oyebanji as a people-focused leader whose policies have brought remarkable transformation across sectors, especially in agriculture, health, education, and rural development, adding that the governor’s style of inclusive governance has given local governments a voice and sense of belonging.
He also lauded Oyebanji’s dedication to workers’ welfare, timely payment of salaries, and support for local government autonomy. According to Oluwatuyi, the governor’s humility, accessibility, and vision have made him a rallying point for good governance in Ekiti State.
On security and communal harmony, Oluwatuyi urged residents to remain vigilant during the Easter celebration, while also cooperating with security agencies to maintain peace and order. He reminded the public that safety is a collective responsibility.
The council boss called on the people to continue to support both the local and state governments in their efforts to deliver good governance and sustainable development in Ekiti State.
