Smiles lit up the Ekiti State Relief and Rehabilitation Centre in Ado Ekiti as the Ado Ekiti Unique Lions Club, alongside partner Lions Clubs, handed over much-needed food and household items to special persons in the community. The gesture, full of compassion and solidarity, aimed to ease the daily struggles of the less privileged.
The donation drive was executed in collaboration with Ekiti One Mind, Ekiti Legacy, and Ado Ekiti Central Lions Clubs, highlighting a strong network of civic engagement committed to supporting vulnerable groups across the state. The items included bags of rice, garri, boxes of spaghetti, yam tubers, clothing, and toiletries.
Leading the initiative, Lion Tunde Onipede, President of Ado Ekiti Unique Lions Club, said the effort reflects the club’s unwavering commitment to humanity. “Our mission is to alleviate suffering and bring hope to those who need it most,” he said, stressing that service to the community lies at the heart of the organization’s work.
Lion Onipede also praised the staff and management of the Relief Centre for their dedication to caring for the vulnerable. He assured that the club will continue to engage in similar humanitarian efforts, emphasizing that such interventions are vital for fostering community wellbeing.
Receiving the items, Resident Officer Mr. Adedapo Adetunji thanked the Lions Clubs for their generosity, describing the donation as a timely support that complements government initiatives for vulnerable citizens. “This partnership strengthens the community and gives hope to those who need it most,” he added.
Lions Clubs International, the global humanitarian organization behind the local clubs, continues to champion service, community development, and social responsibility, proving that even small acts of kindness can transform lives.
