BOUESTI Governing Council Appoints Dr Margaret Bosede Omisope as New Bursar
The Governing Council of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology (BOUESTI), Ikere-Ekiti, has approved the appointment of Dr. Margaret Bosede Omisope as the University’s second substantive Bursar. The appointment was approved at the Council’s statutory meeting held on Thursday, October 8, 2026.
Dr. Omisope is a seasoned accounting professional with extensive experience in financial management and administration. Her appointment is a recognition of her professional competence, academic accomplishments and years of service in the university system.
An indigene of Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Dr. Omisope began her educational journey at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Primary School, Ado-Ekiti, where she obtained her Primary School Leaving Certificate in 1980. Thereafter, she proceeded to Christ Girls’ School, Ado-Ekiti, and Abadina College, University of Ibadan, for her secondary education.
She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti (now EKSU), in 1998, followed by a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Ado-Ekiti (now EKSU) in 2003. She subsequently earned a Master of Science degree in Accounting from Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, in 2022 and completed her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Accounting at the same institution in 2026.
Dr. Omisope is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). Her professional affiliations also include membership of Institute of Public Management of Nigeria, the Nigerian Institute of Management, the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria. She equally obtained a certification from the Bureau of Public Procurement in 2013.
Her professional career in university administration spans several decades, beginning with her appointment as Accountant II in the Bursary Department of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta in 1999. Through dedication, experience and professional advancement, she rose through the ranks to become Deputy Bursar I in 2024.
She worked in various Divisions of the Bursary Department at FUNAAB in the course of her career progression.
She also served as Acting Managing Director of the FUNAAB Microfinance Bank.
She is expected to bring her wealth of experience, professional expertise and academic knowledge to bear on the management of the University’s financial resources.
Dr. Omisope will succeed the Bursar whose tenure will expire on January 5, 2027. Her appointment will take effect from January 6, 2027.
