Usi Ekiti
Going thought the memory lane in the history of gubernatorial elections in Ekiti state, Ido/Osi Local government area is one peculiar geographical space occupying electorate of peculiar characters and attributes.
Why the Local government came more to the limelight was the 2007 governorship election and the subsequent rerun election between then Governor Segun Oni, now the candidate of the Social Democratic Party and the current State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi.
That particular election made Ido Osi a Spotlight, a reference and a name in the Nigerian politics. Every gubernatorial candidate now places much focus on the counts from the area because of the good and the harm the scores may add the their fortunes.
As at today, the truth is that the much known Ido/osi is in a state of unpredictability in the coming election as no one can say a particular party might carry the day. Mere simple analysis of my party, the People’s Democratic Party raises serious concerns as regards whether PDP is ready for victory or not.
There are three very crucial towns in the Local government that determine victory for PDP in the past, they are Ifaki, Ido both with 2 wards and Usi with 1ward.
Currently, as things stand between the determinants, a son of the soil in Ifaki is the Governorship candidate of SDP, the incumbent senator representing Ekiti North under APC, Senator Olubunmi Adetunbi, is is believed aspiring again is also from thesame Ifaki Ekiti with the SDP candidate. I begin to ask questions among which is; where will Ifaki people go come 2022?
Does it mean there won’t be vote for both APC and PDP in Ifaki on that day because their son is also contesting for Governorship position? Will some also prefer to retain the senatorial seat and neglect Gubernatorial seat? What is also the faith of PDP in the coming Election?
Who is that strong Leader in Ifaki that Ifaki people will because of him or her vote for PDP? Politically toady, where is Dr Mrs Modupe Alade, the former Secretary to the State government under the administration of Ayo Fayose? Is Ifaki Ekiti agenda a strong agenda for the people? One cannot say who win take the lead in Ifaki Ekiti.
In Ido Ekiti, they are always known for one voice and block vote but they failed to do that for Cyril Fasuyi, a former ally of Segun Oni now turned staunched enemy politically serving as the Director General of the APC, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji. One hopes such will not repeat itself. What magic will Hon Babatunde Ajayi popularly called TCASH of PDP, Cyril Fasuyi of APC and Olasca of SDP do to win for their different parties all within Ido Ekiti?
Survey shows PDP will most likely have the day if TCASH gets the Ticket for the House of Representatives but if not, the APC of Cyril is a goal because Cyril is a grassroot mobilizer. We shouldn’t also forget that the current executive Chairman of the local government is from Ido and will want to deliver Ido wards for APC.
What can Olasca do because IDO might prefer having House of Reps than Assembly ticket . Will Mrs Alo wish to collaborate with Olasca to get IDO for SDP?
Where are we in Ido/Osi?
Usi politics has always been a different ball game since the creation of Ekiti, the community is known for PDP but will such happened this time around? Usi was the second home of Segun Oni in his first term , now the likes of chief Femi Akinyemi and Dr Ojo are on ground mobilising again.
Tolu Ibitola, the Deputy chief of staff to governor Fayemi also wants the community winning for APC in joint efforts with Wale Ojo Lanre, a veteran media man and Mr Agbeyo the former Commissioner for Environment under JKF.
Who and who do we have in Usi PDP to work for the party? we have Arc Sola Omotoso Embassy , the former chairman local government services commission and PDP candidate in 2019 National Assembly election, for Ekiti North Federal Constituency 2. Is he ready to work very hard for the party this time around with his treatment in the party in the recent time? What can Chief Arogbodo do for the party? Can he mobilized effectively for the party victory?
Orin/Ora ward, the ward of OTF, Can Funmi Ogun, the former
Commissioner of Works to Ayo Fayose win the ward for PDP ? Knowing fully that Orin is the home of SDP now due to Prof Adeniran involvement, Orin Ekiti and Ọra Ekiti shares the same ward, Will the people of Ora Ekiti be happy to work with Ogun to deliver the Ward for PDP? We should not also forget that Ido/Osi Local government secretary is from Orin, will he to be sleeping and allow other party to take the day?
AYETORO with 2 wards seems to be small but mighty, where will they go this time around? SDP is moving there and also the immediate executive chairman of Ido osi still much alive to deliver the Ward for APC. Where is Hon Ogunrinde in PDP today? Will he work very hard this time around when he was not even in good book of the leader of the party, if he decided to work will he get anything reasonable when is close ally Duro Faseyi is not well placed now in the politics of today PDP
In Osi Ekiti ward , what can Mr Faseluka do to get victory for PDP ? Can the current local government services commission commissioner win for APC as well? Can Banjo the SDP Assembly aspirant deliver the town for SDP?
Aaye/ Ifishin/Igbole , where is the ward politically? What is their voting strength to determine victory for any party here in Ido osi? Who are the strong leaders there?
Can Doctor Ojo prove to us he can deliver his ward for PDP? What is the strength of Hon Tolu, the PDP House of Assembly candidate? we must not also forget that Hon Kennedy of SDP is from Aaye.
Ilogbo Ekiti, the home town of PDP former Rep member Chief Thaddeus Aina, can baba do magic there and win the town for his party PDP? Will the former deputy speaker Hon Barrister Tunji Orisalade let that be and not for his party? Will Barrister Catherine Odunola Olatoye Madam Solar prove woman’s strength for SDP?.
WHY I’M EVEN SAYING ALL THESE AND WHAT IS MY CONCERN?
IBO IDO/OSI, WHERE is it going to this time around? Can Segun oni get that this time around for himself just like when he was in PDP in 2007 as Ido/osi is known for PDP, Can Bisi Kolawole, the PDP candidate enjoy such this time around? My party, PDP still need more to be done ahead of June 18 2022 governorship election.
I wish my party the very best.
