EKITI PRIMARY HEALTH CARE WORKERS CAUTIONS NULGE OVER INCITIVE STATEMENTS

…clear air over proposed  celebration fee

Workers under the aegis of the Ekiti State Primary Health Care Workers Association have come heavily on the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE over an incitive statement regarding a proposed celebration to mark the approval of some benefits for them by Governor Biodun Oyebanji.

In a statement after a meeting of executive members held in Ado Ekiti, the Chairman of the Association, Comrade Rufai Ayan and the Secretary, Comrade Cornelius Makanjuola condemned the statement describing it as irrelevant and act of jealousy.

NULGE president, Comrade Oluseyi Olatunde had issued a statement ordering council workers who benefited from the 90% Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS and 100% Hazard Allowance not to give money to any group in respect of the government approval.

However, the EKPHCWA Chairman Comrade Rufai Ayan and the Secretary, Comrade Cornelius Makanjuola noted that the association only demanded for a voluntry contribution of very meagre amount from members so as to celebrate the long awaited success.

According to them, the proposed celebration could be likened to the case of a couple who have been praying for  fruit of the womb for about 13years; and God in His infinite mercy granted them an answer by giving them a bouncing baby boy and girl ( twins) . Can anybody stop them from celebrating God’s greatness and favor in their lives? NO!

The statement reads:”PHC Workers from time  immemoria , have been making voluntary contribution to support NULGE programs such as: Construction  of NULGE secretariats  and purchase of NULGE buses in the following LG: Gbonyin,Ikole, Ilejemeje,Ekiti West and many others, why has the union not stop such contributions.

“If NULGE is indeed protecting the interest of PHC workers why would they have allowed a wooping sum of #1,500  collected from entire PHC Workers, just for the submittion of Code of Conduct form? What a misplacement of priority? Despite 3% monthly cheque off due on gross as against the basic, to her cover. What an extortion !

It added that sometimes in early 2023, the organized labour in Ekiti State observed the need to have Workers Club house and for this to be realized; it was agreed that Workers should contribute for it which was a pure Workers affair.

” So what is the the crime if we decide to come together as one family to celebrate our achievements especially the just approved allowances.

We hereby advise NULGE to address its own shortcomings steering it in the face rather than trying to cause confusion.
