Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources in Ekiti State Erelu Tosin -Aluko Ajisafe has paid a courtesy visit to the Ekiti State Waste Management Authority which is an agency under the Ministry of Environment.

The Commissioner who was accompanied by some key officers of the ministry which include the Permanent Secretary Mr Babatunde Alokan, Director of Environmental Sanitation and Health Services Mr Tunde Balogun and the Director, Nature Conservation and Climate Change, Mr Akinola Babatunde was well received by the management of the Agency.

Conducting the Commissioner round the offices and premises of the Agency, the Director General of the Agency, Mr Sunkanmi Onipede showed the Commissioner the state of the equipment and stressed the need to aquire more in order to have an optimal service delivery in the State

While giving the full details of the state of some of the equipment, the General Manager, Engineer Ayoola Osalusi explained that two of the four compactor Trucks meant to convey and dispose waste to the dumpsites are functional while the other two are off the road due to mechanical faults.

Osalusi further explained that two big Dino bins are under repairs while repairs of other two smaller ones which will be stationed at Agric Olope market have been completed.

Responding, the Commissioner said, proactive measures must always be taken when it comes to the repairs of equipment used to keep the city of Ado Ekiti clean. She charged the management to always encourage the workers engaged by the agency to boost their morals for effective job delivery.

She reiterated that the visit became imperative due to the concern of Governor Biodun Oyebanji led administration to keep Ekiti clean and hygienic at all times with the ultimate aim of having an epidemic free environment.
