The Speaker of Ekiti Youth Parliament and Chairman, Conference of youth Parliament Speakers in Nigeria Mr Toba Fatunla has officially declared his intention to contest the membership of EKiti State House of Assembly.
The Youth speaker and his teaming entourage stormed his ward in Ikole Local Government to notify the people of his aspiration to represent them in Ikole Constituency 1.
Fatunla who thanked the people for their prayers and support as Ekiti Youth speaker noted that it was high time youth took advantage the state had given to the younger generation to grow politically. He explained that he had learnt, mentored by worthy leaders who had prepared him for the great task.
In his words “I have learnt the act of legislation, I have the experience, I know what it takes to give a quality representation and contribute to the development of my constituents. You can be rest assured that my Parliamentary experience is not going to be a waste”
In their different reactions, some of the constituents expressed huge confidence in Toba Fatunla. They described him as a qualified, outstanding, diligent and illustrious son of the soil who had at no time left the touches with the people at the grassroot. They lauded his various efforts and interventions, saying that he is a very fittting round peg in round hole.
A resident said ” We have not had a youth to represent us at anytime and the current occupiers of that positions here in Ikole seem not to bother about what happens to us”
Another constituent said “Toba Fatunla has touched lives through his innovative ideas such as Toba Ayo-Fatunla education initiative through which he distributed many books and other education materials across Ikole LG. He organised many impactful orientation programs both within and outside these Local government. He has represented the interest of the youths very well, bringing about harmonious relationship among youths through football competitions among other great feats, he is eminently qualified to represent us and we will support him“.
Mr Toba Fatunla who was amazed at the trooping out of youth across political parties to embrace his aspiration assured them that he will justify the confidence reposed in him if he gets the mandate. He briefed the people of various steps taken to end the current insecurity in Ikole axis.
Responding, the chairman of the ward Mr Sanni Olanrewaju appreciated the dynamism of the youth speaker who he said had always shown genuine concerns for the development of the town. He commended his quality representation at the youth Parliament while they prayed for his success.
