Ogunlola’s years MHR: Constituents’ Testament.

Vox Populi, Vox Dei is an expression affirming the unison in people’s voice as a divine approval. It holds more truth when and where stewardship is altruistic and commensurate.
Recently, in the company of a brother and friend, Asiwaju Kasali Oluwafemi, Legislative Aide to Hon. (Barr.) Omowumi Olubunmi Ogunlola who represents Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II (Ijero/Ekiti West/Efon) in the 9th Assembly, I decided to look more into the projects of the MHR by embarking on a tour round the towns in the area.
In Aramoko Ekiti, walking through the 1km road construction facilitated by Hon. Ogunlola, we were accosted by one Mr. Tayo, an indigene of the community who without knowing who we were and careless of whose emissaries we were went on showing encomium on the WOO in his local dialect. WOO is an abbreviation of Wumi’s full name and has become the appelation the people had given to the woman representative. WOO means Look or See.
Before you ask the people, they would have begin to mention and count many of the things Mama Empowerment has done to better their lives.
Hear what Mr Tayo said “Wumi lo je mi mon wipe Repu ye da titi, me na’wo re ri o, sugbon fun ona ko se, ko gba panna ule aba mi koja, gbogbo ule ria la dibo fun lerekan si”
Translated to mean; “I didn’t know that a Member of House of Representatives (MHR) could facilitate road projects until this one by Hon. Wumi. I have not spent her money directly but for the road construction that traversed my father’s compound, EVERYONE in our home and families will vote for her again”.
As if Aramoko was the only town that benefitted from the road project, getting to Ijero Ekiti, the same testimonies were given by the residents whose township road was wearing a new look.
At Ikoro Ekiti, it was amazing to see a well equiped Health Centre. I was still talking about these massive projects when some certain residents began to sing praise Ogunlola in their native language. All I noticed from this song was the Mentioning of Thursday 7th of April.
It was indeed very funny but I later asked one of them what the song implies,
“Another empowerment is coming, Students will benefit again, widows will benefit again, Farmers will benefit again, Artisans will benefit again, youths will benefit again the aged will benefit againstreetlights and Boreholes will be commissioned on Thursday 7th April 2022″
I bursted into laughter, the people already know the dates, they fixed it by themselves. Erelu Bisi Fayemi, the First Lady of Ekiti State is the Mother of the Day, while ‘Oni Uyi’ Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji BAO, the incoming Governor of Ekiti State is a Special Guest of Honour. It must be emphasised that the planned empowerment project is the second in a roll even in the face of COVID-19 constrains.
The inexhaustible list of WOO empowerment projects is unrivalled when compared with the performances of previous occupants of her position and unsurpassed by activities of her colleagues from other constituencies in the State.
Though, the only female among the six (6) MHR from Ekiti State, Hon. Omowumi Ogunlola continues to justify her election, raising the stake many notches higher and with her performances, SHE RE-ECHOS THE CALL TO GIVE MORE WOMEN OPPORTUNITIES TO THRIVE IN POLITICS.
Good turns deserve another goes the cliché, returning performing legislators like Hon. Wumi to the National Assembly will be another way for us to have our fair share of the national cake in the budget which in-turn compliments governance in the State and Local Government Areas.
