Following the demise of the Ekiti State Speaker of the Houses of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Funminiyi Afuye As announced by the state government yesterday, The Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, Professor Edward Olanipekun has described the death of the Sixth Assembly as a rude shock.
Professor Olanipekun described Rt. Hon. Afuye as a good friend of the university who would be greatly missed. He noted that the late Afuye was a humble and diligent lawmaker who served Ekiti State meritoriously.
While commiserating with his immediate family, Ikere Ekiti community, members of Ekiti State House of Assembly and the Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, the Vice Chancellor prayed for the repose of the deceased’s soul.
In a statement made available to the Press and signed by the head, Directorate of information and Corporate Affairs Mr Bode Olofinmuagun, the University community prayed that the Almighty God would grant the family, friends and associates of Rt.Hon. Afuye the fortitude to bear his passage.
